I bet you folks can't wait. Republican Jim DeMint has solved your jobs problem.

South Carolina Republican Congressman Jim DeMint is running for the retiring Fritz Hollings’ U.S. Senate seat. But he recently spotlighted a job creation strategy so spectacular that nothing less than the White House would do him justice. Or would it?

Speaking at a Greenville, S.C. forum on May 11, DeMint claimed that “offshoring...creates three jobs in the United States for every one overseas.” Armed with this information, it’s clear what the nation needs to do: start sending jobs – any jobs – overseas as fast as possible. In fact, we should do anything possible to send about 2.73 million jobs abroad immediately. That way, we would create work right away for the 8.2 million Americans unemployed as of April. Unless we really need to send 910,000 more jobs overseas to create jobs for the 2.73 million newly unemployed from the outsourcing? And 303,000 more jobs for those 910,000? And so on?

But the miracle of outsourcing can’t stop there. Some 492,000 Americans were counted by the Labor Department in April as being too discouraged by the job picture to look for work. So according to the DeMint Theory, 164,000 more jobs will need to be exported to create work for them. And some 55,000 more for the 164,000.
