Kerry wrote letter to Dear Abby
http://blog.johnkerry.com/blog/archives/001754.html#001754

Basically, a 13 year old girl wrote a letter to Dear Abby. She had told her class that she wanted to be President some day and they laughed at her and bullied her saying girls aren't allowed to be pres, blah blah blah.

John Kerry wrote back.

Kerry's letter is pretty cool. Very optimistic. Dream big type of stuff.

Then, after Kerry's letter, Dear Abby wrote this:
'DEAR SEN. KERRY: To say that you are a busy man these days is an understatement. That you would still reach out to help a child says volumes about you as a person."

1. Dear Abby
Dear Abby, Dear Abby ...
My feet are too long
My hair's falling out and my rights are all wrong
My friends they all tell me that I've no friends at all
Won't you write me a letter, Won't you give me a call
Signed Bewildered
Bewildered, Bewildered...

Chorus:
You have no complaint
You are what your are and you ain't what you ain't
So listen up Buster, and listen up good
Stop wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood
Dear Abby, Dear Abby...
My fountain pen leaks
My wife hollers at me and my kids are all freaks
Every side I get up on is the wrong side of bed
If it weren't so expensive I'd wish I were dead
Signed Unhappy
Unhappy, Unhappy...

Repeat Chorus
Dear Abby, Dear Abby...
You won't believe this
But my stomach makes noises whenever I kiss
My girlfriend tells me It's all in my head
But my stomach tells me to write you instead
Signed Noise-maker
Noise-maker, Noise-maker

Repeat Chorus
Dear Abby, Dear Abby...
Well I never thought
That me and my girlfriend would ever get caught
We were sitting in the back seat just shooting the breeze
With her hair up in curlers and her pants to her knees
Signed Just Married
Just Married, Just Married...

"Dear Abby"-John Prine

Sorry, I just couldn't resist a little humor. It is a good story about Sen. Kerry.

I just need a laugh this morning.

2. So nice to read a positive
"dream big" story - at a time when the news is so ugly. Thanks for posting this.

4. excellent
corny as hell, but I love it.

Millions of people read Dear Abby every day, sometimes it's the first thing they read, or even the only thing they read.

How will Rove respond to this, will he try to find a way to smear Kerry via Dear Abby?

5. Abigail van Buren is a Commie!
Er, I mean a terrorist...uh, abortionist...she's an evil doer.

I would LOVE to see them try to smear Dear Abby. That would be hi-sterical!

6. Having an eleven year old daughter
And seeing how people judge her because of her gender, how people try to convince her that she doesn't have to try hard, doesn't really need to learn math, because she's a girl, I can't tell you how much Kerry's letter gets to me. Not really the words, it's just that he would do this. Yes, I know, it's a great publicity stunt, too, but it doesn't matter. That 13 year old girl will always remember this. Who knows? A young Bill Clinton shook John Kennedy's hand, and it convinced Clinton he could become president one day. It's a little thing on Kerry's part, but it could be the biggest factor in this girl's life.

And Hell, Bush doesn't even show up for his own daughters' graduations-- or their criminal trials.

10. There were others when they were juvies that didn't make the news
Shoplifting being the big one.

It's not so much what they did wrong, it's that he didn't do anything to support them at a bad time in their lives. I'm not talking about them, just about him as a parent. They are scarred by his neglect. They have that fake tough-girl attitude that neglected kids get, when they have to act tough to hide their fear and insecurity. Hopefully they'll grow out of it. They may have already, I don't know anything about them nowadays.
