4. I saw him last year at Syracuse University Commencement
It was fantastic. His theme was follow the trend lines not the headlines. Now that a year later that has been born out and Bush is in the ropes it would be really fun to hear him again.

Edited on Thu May-20-04 09:42 PM by harper
We tried to get tickets the first day they were available, before the move to Allen Field House. No luck.

We're hoping it will be televised. I can't wait to get his book.

11. Ask him if he remembers me.
I reached over 10 people to shake his hand in 1992.

12. Its 'good' to be GoPsUx..I attended a Bill Clinton Rally in Downtown
Denver..his first campaign for Pres against GHWBush.
Bush Sr had been in town a few weeks earlier, campaigning to the standard wealthiest district, with the most privileged kids from the wealthiest school, all hand picked. Of course the average citizen could not get within a mile of Bush's speech. All staged, as usual.
Bush's appearance attended by around 5000.

Nest came Ross Perot's campaign, also in downtown Denver's park. A larger crowd and I did attend that one. It was quite well received and charged up.
Shortly after, Perot did exit the race.

The following week came a somewhat known William Jefferson Clinton. Campaign speech held in the same downtown park . I rode the transit bus there to avoid traffic.
I was early that day, and found a nice place to sit, atop a rock wall in a direct line from the stage.
I recall this vividly...It was mid-day, and as the time came for the rally to begin, the crowd grew larger and larger.
I watched with growing amazement as people from the downtown offices continued to arrive, they just continued to come from everywhere.

Bill was speaking and Hillary was with him that day. He was, of course, holding the crowd's attention with every word.
Cheers and applause grew louder, and some cameraman from a Japanese New Service asked if he could photograph me as I cheered for Bill Clinton. I said, in my best Japanese, "sure".

Clinton was impressive for a relative newcomer, but what struck me that day, and convinced me at that moment, that Bill Clinton would be our next President, was the size of the crowd.
Close estimates by the city's fly-over planes, were around 30,000.

I remember the sound of his voice and the sight of Bill and Hillary, I recall most of all the popularity of this man, and it said one resounding thing to me.
The Nation at that time, was searching for a leader for their America, as much then as they are now.

I miss him caring deeply for all people of this Nation, I miss the feeling of having a true leader. One who can walk among any crowd in America and joke, laugh, shake hands and hug the people who are the true salt of this land. And as they look up to him admiringly, he looks at them as equal.
I miss the humanity of William Jefferson Clinton.

I look forward to John Kerry becoming President because I know there will again be a place for this great diplomat,President Bill Clinton.

Kerry has my vote for that reason also.
Thanks

14. By the way, GoPsUx..
Prepare to be totally awestruck.

Prepare to be damn near brought to tears by his wisdom, and endeared by his humor.

Prepare to love your girlfriend forever for this great moment.
Its all inevitable.

Enjoy yourself and do report back to Du when you've gathered your thoughts.

20. CNN just reported that they had to move the ceremony
to a larger place to fit the overcrowding. Overwhelming crowds want to see him wherever he goes.

That's some Clinton fatigue!

21. I don't know why but...
I got tears while I was reading this thread.
I think I am so depressed and disgusted with what is going on for last 4 years. I am originally from Japan but I am planning to become an American citizen. ( Married with kid to an American.) I want the American I loved back. Though I love the culture of my own country ( Japan ) I did not like the way its social system worked. U.S. to me was the land of freedom and options.

Anyway, I miss Clinton. For that matter alone, I personally want Hilary to be a vice president so that she can become President.

I want Clinton back!! I kind of feel sorry for Kerry. I think he is a decent and quite capable candidate. He is just not Clinton,

Just because of that, I will buy Clinton's book.

Oh, I almost forgot, my husband actually saw Bill two years ago. Then, I was not this emotional. It was before the war started. My god, even compared to two years ago, what a difference. I thought that was lowest then.
