I saw this on the 10 o'clock news last night
<snip>
The military is investigating the aggressive, quite surprising, new way some recruiters are operating.

A deceptive letter is being sent to some reservists, who are no longer active, trying to get them to join active units.

The recruiters claim they're trying to help the reservists, but in reality, they're trying to help themselves with quotas to fill and a reluctant pool to draw from.

On Tuesday the Army admitted they have made false claims, using what amounts to scare tactics to boost their numbers and spooking tens of thousands of young men and women in the process.

1. I've heard from many sources
that recruiters are all liars anyway.

4. everyone I know in the military says so
and I remember when a friend of mine was recruited two years ago - the outright harrassement and deception would be illegal by any private company, but it's all legal for the military.

2. Since when have recruiters EVER told the truth???
How do you know if a recruiter is lying? Their lips are moving.

5. The story was brought by DeFazio
on the floor today, here is the link to the Oregonian story he cited

Oh and this is how a down and dirty DRAFT looks like. We no longer have a volunteer army... the DRAFT is here.

6. I had a recruiter come to my classroom because my high school
has the Marine ROYC as one of its magnets. He was spouting off the regular old lies about Bush and the war. Before he came to my other senior English class I told him that I did not approve of the propaganda and not to use it again. He said that he agreed and was retiring from the Reserves this summer. One smart man.
