4. Just passed in Missouri a few days ago
I'm not really sure whether it will pass or not. Normally I depend on St. Louis & KC for the liberal vote, but on this issue a lot of straight African-Americans don't support us, so I'm not optimistic.

13. Interesting passage:
This constitution shall not be construed to require that marital status or the rights, privileges, benefits or other legal incidents of marriage be conferred upon unmarried individuals or groups.

So no domestic partnership arrangements at all, huh? Not even for straight people?

11. Georgia. Does that surprise anyone?
I guess we are part of the Robertson Fallwell sector. I can't get a real feel for how many supporters there are because the RW are very vocal and very loud!

15. it passed in California a few years ago
i believe it was in 2000 when it passed. all the top democrats were against it but it still passed by a large amount. the man who sponsered it just died recently. he had a brother who was gay and died of aids some time back.and his own son was gay also. his son was very upset when his father died even though his father was anti gay. but i just don't know why this man who had a brother that was gay and whose own son was gay would spend so much time on pushing anti gay laws. he wasn't one that disowned his son or ignored him either .

17. Definitely yes
Virginia had the infamous case with Sharon Bottoms back when I was a teenager, where the grandmother sued and got Sharon's child taken away from her simply because she was a lesbian, by bringing up one of our incredibly antiquated sodomy laws.

You know in Virginia, it's illegal to have sex with a woman in the missionary position if her feet is more than two inches off the ground, or something like that. I can just see Eric Cantor and George Allen or one of those fascist bastards that we keep electing coming in my bedroom with the measuring tape....

19. Not anymore
Lawrence v. Texas threw out all sodomy laws.

What's sick about the Virginia law was that it was a felony. That's right - have sex the wrong way, lose the right to vote.

20. That's great
I wasn't sure if that affected us or not. But we definitely have one of those laws banning gay marriage. Once again, it's not surprising, considering our electorate...

18. Alabama just shelved it
I can't find a link, so here's the summary:

"Bill to ban gay marriage left waiting at the altar"

"Montgomery -- The Alabama Legislature ended its 2004 regular session Monday night without voting on a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriages in Alabama.
The gay marriges legislation was one of several bills aimed at improving the state's moral compass that died Monday when the House spent the final day dealing mostly with the General Fund budget and taxes to balance the spending plan."
