Gas Prices

A Shell gas station owner put up this sign again in Menlo Park, Calif., Monday, May 17, 2004 as gas prices raise in the area. The owner put up the sign last year when prices climbed. (AP Photo/Paul Sakuma)

1. $2.33 for regular??? what the fuck?
regular in NJ has only recently climbed into the $2.00-$2.03 range, supreme is at $2.17-$2.20 and people are going to riot soon if it gets any higher.

IIRC.

Gas is about 1.90 here right now; that's regular. Premium is in the $2.15 range.

6. Yes...
But aren't folks expected to roll over and happily pull the lever for *ush when gas prices suddenly fall to 1.39 again come September?

Lowest price for regular here (north of NYC) was $2.18 this morning.

5. $2.34 in Eugene, Oregon
self-service is illegal here - none of us know how to pump our own gas and act like idiots when we go out of state.

18. 2 States
NJ and Oregon don't allow you to pump your gas.

Now that I've moved my wife won't pump gas. She says that's my job. Not a sexist thing. She says she'll clean the toilets and I'll pump the gas.

:)
Works for me.

BTW- just paid over $2 for premium for the first time here in Texas.

It's the same here in Jersey. I went to visit my mom in FL 2 summers ago and she asked me to pump while she payed and I just looked at her as if she had 2 heads! I'm 20 years old and I've only pumped gas once in my life!

9. Paid $31.20 to fill up yesterday.
And no, it's not a Humvee.
That is THE most I've ever paid at the pump.

We have 2 minivans. I'm getting rid of the older one and getting a 2 or 3 year old Honda Civic.

10. I haven't filled up in weeks but I think it is $1.90 in Va.
The last time I filled up was last Saturday on the way back from Baltimore other than that I can go 2 weeks without needing gas, work is 3 miles away we can walk toto several bars or restaurants.

13. That's a problem with the 'burbs.
I'm 10 miles from the closest grocery.
About the same distance to the center of our little town.

Me & Miz t. don't jump in the car to run errands 2 or 3 times a day any more. Plan one trip to do all.

Folks in the neighborhood are actually calling friends when going into town.
"I'm heading into town. Need anything?"
A buddy made a bank deposit for me today, and my car stayed in the carport.

It's getting freakin' grim and it's gonna get worse.

10 years ago. I couldn't stand having to get in the freakin' car just to get a pack of smokes.

Well looks like we will be buying a house in the 'burbs fairly soon. Sigh, the commute begins.

17. Average $2.05 in Fairfax, VA...
Edited on Mon May-17-04 03:15 PM by fairfaxvadem
and that's for 87.

So, you definitely have missed a lot since your last fill up!

I only work 5 exits from home but because of the G** D*** traffic tie-ups on 66, takes almost 45 painful minutes without a major accident. Throw in a frigging fender-bender and the morning is ruined. Even the back routes are backed up anymore.
