Registering to Vote = Registering for the Daft
Good way to supress turnout, along with daily threats of a terrorist attack on election day.

1. Or
You could drive up voter turnout with a real national debate about the draft. Younger voters and a lot of their non-voting parents might take an interest in voting if we had a real national debate about the draft.

2. ????
When I turned 18 (22 years ago), I had to register with Selective Service. It was from there that they would pull conscripts. I assume 18 year olds still have to register with Selective Service.

By all means, please, go register to vote. DO NOT spread rumors linking voter registration and a draft.

7. we should put signs up in GATED COMMUNITIES to suppress voters
like..."Mark your calendars for register to vote so you can get down to the polls on November 3, 2004. Also a good time to make it right with your Lord and confess your embezzlement and insider trading activities. We'd hate for you to be locked away for your crimes when you attempt to place your vote."

8. in Baltimore
in 2002 flyers were mysteriously posted in black neighborhoods reminding people to have their arrest warrants paid off or else they would not be allowed to vote. I don't think the posters were ever caught. This kind of stuff makes me ill.

10. yep. that's the story I was satirizing with my little riff. I even have
the wrong date like they did. THe flyers about voting gave a date ONE DAY after the election day.

Yes, we need to get a full playbook out there across the likely to be disenfranchised communities so they know their rights and will take it seriously. They can't be intimidated. They need our help with education, motivation, and celebration about voting to make a point that this country won't be held hostile by a guy who is misunderestimated and the master of low expectations.
