Lindsey Graham (sp) and John McCain are only ones to save us now!
I know LG was a House Manager...but he and John McCain appear to be the the only Republicans who are sincerely outraged about what is happening in Iraq and what happend at Abu Gharib prison. Dems will not be able to effectively garner the support in Congress to oust Rumsfeld and charge Bush. Neither LG or JM will finger Bush but they will come close.
As I see it, since the American public seems aloof and apathetic about these events and Kerry is too interested in becoming President to step up with courage and call it like it really is, these two Republicans may be our only hope. We need to encourge them to appeal to their own inner morality and get on with it. The survival of America as we hoped it would be is at stake.

1. Graham ....
... maybe, McCain, no way. He always closes ranks with the Reps when the going gets tough.

2. I think all the R's who voted against the last tax cuts are respectable
including McCain, who justified his decision largely due to the fact that we were at war, but also Snowe, and Chafee, who if you remember, voted against the Iraq resolultion

3. Snowe is a REPUBLICAN
and always will be a Republican.

AUGUSTA -- Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins gave the Republicans at the Augusta Civic Center a one-two punch Saturday morning.

Snowe, who was honored for 25 years of service in Congress, recounted many of President Bush's accomplishments and praised his leadership through difficult times.

Collins pepped up the crowd, taking jabs at Democrats and unveiling a red T-shirt with a huge white "W" on the back, which she said stands not only for George W. Bush, but for getting more Republicans into office by winning.

...

She (Snowe) praised Bush for adding a prescription drug benefit to Medicare, cutting taxes and working to extend health benefits to small businesses. Collins said he delivered on many of his campaign promises, including bringing accountability to education spending and returning "honor and dignity to the White House."

10. Absolutely, and it is time to de-mythologize Snowe
and her bobsie twin, Collins.

They work for the Republican party and have no intention of Jeffordizing themselves.

Snowe wants to be another <Margaret Chase Smith. She has hung on by simple spin.

6. A vote for ANY Republican is a push towards the RIGHT!
I don't care if they voted against every Republican issue there ever was. I don't care if they voted against the impeachment of Clinton, or against the war on Iraq. If they are Republicans, we do NOT need to accept them. We have been pushed too far to the right as it is.

7. I'm not talking about 'voting' for them I'm talking about 'using' them
They are the only voice the some dittoheads might listen to and they are really pissed about Abu Gharib and the prisoner abuse. I think they saw most of the photos.

8. Watergate Redux
Remember, the Watergate jig was up when Barry Goldwater and a few other Republicans walked up the White House steps to deliver the news to Nixon that he did not have the votes in Congress to avoid impeachment.

I have said from the start that it will take a few disciplined Republicans with principles to take down Shrubco. There aren't many of them left, but I think that some of them can see that this is will be a losing issue when it comes time for their own re-elections. Besides, McCain probably hates Bush even more than we do because of the dirty tricks played against him and his family in the South Carolina primary.

Speaking of South Carolina, Lindsay Graham is widely reported to be gay. Plus he is the only one of the impeachment house managers to have retained office. He has to be looking at this mess and asking himself what the Bushies will do to him personally. He may have learned some lessons from the impeachment debacle as well, thus he may be a bit shy of doing the right-wing's bidding without asking questions first.

9. You have got to be joking..........
unless you ignore pretty much everything that Graham has said and done, with the exception of what he is now saying re. the prisoner abuse.
