Let's Boogie Down to The Mighty Wurlitzer!
Well, a while back, here on DU, a lot of people were recognizing that the CIA was getting screwed, blued and tattooed by the maladministration. A lot of the same folks were wondering when the CIA was gonna rise up and how they would exact their justice.

Well, here it is: The Mighty Wurlitzer.

They have seized control of the news cycle with their well-disseminated information. The ground was seeded by Ray McGovern and others like him, ex-agency people who were outraged by the cowboys at The pentagon and how they were, in essence, creating a new international Gestapo, free of accountability and blacker than black. While, we might add, scapegoating the CIA for all and sundry intelligence failures.

But, as Sun Tzu says, underestimating one's adversary is unwise doctrine. Rumsfeld and his band of Attempted James Bonds, Jack Ryans and Dick Marcinkos were naifs. Babes in the woods. Leaving tracks and crumbs and screw-ups everywhere. Besides, the CIA has people briefed into this operation. Remember: The CIA is an elephant.

Elephants never forget.

So now, taking a page out of classic CIA tradecraft, they have begun to play "The Mighty Wurlitzer" in all its glory. Only this time, the don't need to strain their brains coming up with plausible disinformation. They have something that plays so much better:

The Truth. The 100% puretee, unvarnished truth.

The maladministration in their zealotry have gone so far off the reservation, so far outside of international and military law and accepted intelligence practice, that they don't have to tell the teeniest lie to get mouths to drop open and to get the bile rising in the throats of the public at large. Remember: Intelligence is the game of gentlemen. There are some things you just don't do, because the paybacks will exact prices you just don't want to pay. You don't want to write a check with your mouth your ass can't cash, and intelligence is a game of paybacks. Cashed checks. Accountability for your actions.

Paybacks are being handed out now. As we speak. Mind the blood puddles and splashes.

Watch. Marvel. Washington is about to become a zoo. A vicious, bloodthirsty zoo, full of savagery and veins in teeth and panic and caterwauling. Breasts will be beaten. Republicans will be scattering for high ground. There will be a run on tailored sackcloth and ashes.

It's gonna get fun. Right before our eyes.

Someone pop the popcorn. The show is about to begin.

5. I Just Wish The Truth About The Berg Murder Would Out
as sick as I am of all the threads about that video and Berg's untimely death... it would be better for the country if the Truth became known. It might be very difficult for many to see it... but sometimes we just have to grow up.

that GHW has played. Why did he step down from Carlyle? Never figured out a theory for that.

Remember Carter purging the intelligence ranks in the late 70's? The word was that those operatives re-assembled under Bush Sr. That they operate a "private" intelligence network. Are they isolated from this war? Is Bush Sr. not able to put the kaibash on the bringing down of this presidency? Or is dad performing the only act of redemption for his miserable existance?

Matbe some day we will all know.

It may have been, whatever "It" is, the last straw.

15. Hey, I'm just a hack.
When it comes to writing, I deal the seeds, the stems and the shake. For the real fine colas of writing, the stuff that will get you off and keep you flying, there can only be one:

Will Pitt.

17. Oh, pshaw
Pitt'll tell you you've got the gift of sass, brass, economy, a sharp eye, and most uncommonly, a unique voice. If you ever decide that being a writer is your thang, you'll have yourself a good-sized loyal audience in short order.

I adore limeade. Safeway's is pretty good. I don't have a Walmart superstore near me, though. I probably can't get it.

23. Yeah! A truthteller with a musical beat
One more detail for the popcorn crowd. Yhe CIA is not one thing. There has always been a split betwen the spooks and the wet-work crowd. The Cons have elevated the wet-work side and pissed on the info-analysts. So the conflicts coming will reveal more about this divide. Operation Phoenix has been reactivated in the "War on Terra" and -he Plame types have been attacked directly.

UNDER OATH AND IN PUBLIC! Make my popcorn hot buttered!

I take it this is already rated XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, judging by all the dirty pictures I've seen so far in the previews! Looks like the state sponsored peep shows are over for the polivangelists at the old PantysGone!

Mom's apple pies and hot dogs have sunken to an all time low on the world market! Bush promised to make the pie higher but the pie is falling instead! Just another broken promise from the not so Great White Father!

27. Right on the money, and, boy, you can write. But I still worry about WMD.
Now that the "slam dunk" thing, true or not, is part of the official history of the Iraq war, Tenet (who I'm convinced thwarted any plans Rummy may have had to plant WMD's) may be more inclined to look the other way if the new Kay equivalent does a hey-look-what-I-found.
