Today, May 15, 2004 has been the saddist day of my life.
Edited on Sat May-15-04 07:58 PM by bandy
DU has been a learning tool like I've never experienced before in my 60 years. And today I have read things here that are just beyond belief and truly devastating. Never have I seen so much incriminating evidence presented in one place. Just one post after another and I keep telling myself not to believe everything I read on the net knowing full well that the posts are 99% reliable here at DU. I have known way before * was appointed that he was not to be trusted (call in intuition or whatever, I just did not trust him from the first moment I saw him). But today everything is just overwhelming. I pray for this all to end for the sake of all of our kids, grandkids, our Mothers and Fathers, the troops and their families. I pray that someone will take the reins and stop this run-a-way train that our country is on. We must stand tall and work hard cause we are up against some evil I've never even dreamed about. Lord help us all. And bless you at DU.

Edit: pls scuse that sp of sadist to saddist. Emotions got in the way!

6. This is the worst government in America's history
A government that orders rape at the highest levels. A government that outs it's own CIA agents, a government that hides everything it can get away with, that blurs the line between executive and judicial, a government that controls the press like a coke whore.

then I get angry that I was scared by such a small soul and his minions....then I get active. I call people, I send e-mails and I fax. I attend any protest I can w/in 30 minutes of me.

I REFUSE to let them scare me. I have 2 kids and I will not allow them to see their mother scared.

OFFENSE is the best defense we have.

And we're going to keep researching and plugging away until we get our country back. Once we get it back, we're going to make sure NOTHING like this ever happens in this country again.

Just have a good cry, and jump back in! The dark side has opened up a can of liberal whoop-ass that they won't soon forget.

8. Don't be all that sad.
The Buddhists say that everyone, even the most evil on the earth, play an important role in the development of mankind. Try to remember: From all of this bad, good will come, as surely as the sun will rise tommorrow. In both big and small ways.

The American People will not let this stand. Know that.

Welcome to The Great Awakening.

14. In the last 3 years I have learned way to much about what our
government has done for the last 100 years. This is normal. This has been done many times before. Millions have been killed by our government. Today we have the internet, which is helping people who can see throught the crap tell everyone what color the crap is. Another thing is that a lot of us were either drafted into Vietnam or went to demonstrations against that war. This war is like a rerun, except now I have a lot more understanding of the world than I did at 14.

There is so much to clean up. I've been depressed for over a year about what I've leared we've done in South America and Vietnam. The people that have ruled this country have been very evil men, and the worst one is now in office.

about the positive events of the past few days. The idiot * is in a free fall and the people appear to be turning back from being sheep. Yes, we as a nation are at a historic moment in this country, and when we boot his ass out of office, I hope Kerry is bold enough, and that our country is unified enough, to embrace the world and ask for forgiveness. There will be many that will lash out from within against this, but it must be done for the good of the world. And I believe a Kerry administration will understand this must be the first step towards reconciliation with the world.

That gave me hope and a good laugh, when I was so upset and down in the last days.
We chose a few years ago to get the Green-Card" (got it 2003) and to apply for citizenship 5 years later.
I was so unsure, if I will go on, but now I know, we will stay and fight with words until we are able to go voting by ourself.

49. We need to stop hoping
We need to stop hoping. We need to tell the next president that he has a responsibility to the human race and our decendents to change the course of history. We need to tell him to ask forgiveness for the horrendous crimes our nation has commited, and inaguarate a new era of international cooperation. We need to launch a nationwide program to develop radical new technologies that will prevent the inevitable environmental and economic collapse that our current oil based civilization his rapidly approaching.

The president works for us. We need to tell him what to do -- hold him accountable.

No more bullshit.

I didn't much pay attention to politics or what was going on in the world. The Viet Nam war was a blur. But the first time I laid eyes on * he got my attention and I have not been able to tear myself away from the net since then. I didn't even know anything about his background at the time. Maybe that came from sizing up friends of 4 kids (all teens at once). But come to find out he is just the surface of a vast pool of evil. I believe things will get better. Just hope I live to see it.

When I heard the name bush was running for President in 2000, my first thought was 'He can run again? He was just President 8 years ago!' doh!

That's how much I paid attention but, when I did I was overwhelmed with sadness also. I also felt ashamed and responsible for not taking a bigger part in my government.

I came to DU looking for hope, answers and information. Thank goodness for DU. We're going to be alright bandy, I feel it. Just like I felt bush was all wrong for America I feel in bones and my gut that we will take our country back.

so many Americans where too busy to follow politics. It's hard to do the daily work to pay the bills.
BUT this time, more and more people realize, it' now the right time to get involved!!!

Try to get people registered, talk to them, are not afraid it's rude and not good manner to talk about your opinion.

Discussion is the base of Democratie.....stay calm and offer your opinion straight onto the "target".

That's civil-courage (I translated this word direct from German, hope that's the same in Engl., if not you will understand)

And it goes beyond politics. In my lifetime, the willingness to follow blindly into the so-called Drug War, was the beginning of where we are today.

Actually, I believe this began right after WW2. The country went into a euphoria. People married and began starting families while the newly invented television was used as an economic tool. It could have been used to educate the masses, but it was used to sell to the masses. And above and beyond that, it was used as a tool to convince the people that it was a legitimate source. And people believed. And bought. And bought. And craved whatever they were told to want. And yet there was little to no knowledge to be gained. We could have used it to teach our children math, history, or anything for that matter. We could have used it to improve our society. But instead it was a method for sales. Money. Greed. And now for confusion. They even used it to sell the Drug War. Cops, the show. Damn them for doing that. But damn America for not standing up. I waited and wondered just what it would take. And still, even in times such as these, I do not see much of a concerted effort to stop the madness.

This is not new. And it won't stop here. The only light is in the hope that we can know. Thanks to the internet, we have a voice. And we always will have a voice. I pray people do not fall into the erroneous ways of comfort. We traded liberty for comfort. Now we're like an athlete who is out of shape, trying to get ready for the race. All we can do is try, and hope others do the same.

I would like to think that as a race of beings, we will try to improve our existence. Knowing what I know, I'm not sure that's going to happen. We have hope and communication.

Be realistic and know that it might take a long time to recover. As long as we fight the good fight, it doesn't matter if we win or lose.

34. Thanks guys
It's nice to be able to spout off.
And thanks for the link. Interesting.

I think two major things have happened, that have contributed to our present situation. Ignoring world population, I believe the shift from a local economy has made us dependent upon corporations. And I also believe that the automobile plays a big role in the increase in mobility, and rate of change of the society. It is like a drug addiction. It's actually worse. It is one of the biggest causes of disease. And we now see that it is also killing the planet.
If it weren't for unknown external interactions, I'd feel even more hopeless than I do already. But, we see global warming, and co2 particulate increase that cannot be ignored. So we are forced to change due to crisis.

This is fun. I belong to other forums, but I feel a bit more anonymous here.

36. Well bandy..........
I couldn't agree more. DU rescued me. I sought out someone, anyone after the 2000 election or should I say theft? I watched all this on TV and I knew what had happened was wrong. Something was VERY wrong. I knew it was stolen that night when the exit polls were being broad casted. I knew they stole it. But no one I knew seemed to care. So what? One party's as good(or bad) as the other. No one paid an ounce of attention to me. So, I did a search on my computer and found DU. Thank Gawd for me that I did. I kept reading, searching, watching, the more concerned and agitated I became. I've lost many friends over this. They just don't wanna hear it. And besides, they LIKE bush! And after all, look what Clinton did. This from people who I know would've done the same thing, given the opportunity.

DU has given me an education that I couldn't have ever gotten on my own. Everything here is referenced but I'm encouraged to check the facts for myself. Oh BTW, those friends are all coming back and saying I was right after all.

I'm rambling on now so I'll just say: hang in there. We know how you feel. Truth will always triumph over lies.:)

I went through a similar process.

No matter how bad things get, it is good to know that ultimately we are not going through this alone. We know the truth (or at least as much as we can know).

Maybe history will show our children that while all this madness was going on *some* people out there sought out real truth and shared it with one another and somehow made a difference.

We all should think about, what we do without DU.

Think about, how much an hour at a shrink will cost us.

DU is helping us to vent our concerns and we have to donate to keep "OUR SHRINK" going on

A shrink will tell you to vent, if you don't you will get sick. Where else can you do this so "cheep"?

Just donate and go on venting, nowhere else you can do it this way and as an excellent side effect DU has a healing effect, I know it I went through it............

So just give a little bit or more if you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!

44. Another guy once said...
"Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

And now the agenda that Prescott Bush financed 70 years ago has come back under the supposed leadership of his own moronic grandson. If recent events don't prove once and for all that these bastards are cold blooded fascists, then I'm afraid to ask exactly what it would take to wake up the rest of the people.

Even the Freepers have no excuses left. Yeah, it won't be easy penetrating their thick and empty skulls with the news, but some of them are beginning to see the light - and it scares the shit out of them. :scared:

46. there's a saying 'be careful what you pray for'
I've a friend whom I haven't seen for a while. She's a committed Christian and worked very hard in the 2000 election.

After the selection, we ate together a few times and I would just blow up at the latest disaster.

And she'd say she was praying every day that finally people would see W and this administration for what they really are, especially conservative Christian people whom she knows and loves. She would say that she had a lot going on in her life with her family, but that she was praying every day for people to finally see what is going on.

And I have been doing that myself.

And I think the prayers are beginning to be answered. But oh how horrible the reality is. I've been LIHOP almost from the beginning, etc, etc, etc,......

But these pictures and the reality of this administration that they reveal and the price that we all will have to pay .....
