His UN presentation in January didn't have the Niger lie in it, and that was around the time they were all saying it. You know they pressured him to include it in his presentation.

Earlier, in the fall I think, Powell supposedly said to Jack Straw "I'm not going to say this, it's bullshit." regarding something the administration wanted him to say at the UN.

So, yeah, I'm sure he hates the fact that he's working for that asshole. Not to say that any of this makes Powell not an asshole himself.

This is the neo-con strategy : use young people, minorities and women as a front.. a new, softer face on the same old ugly conservative agenda. Moderate suburban swing voters won't feel guilty voting for them and liberals won't attack as hard. The neo-cons have found a way to use "liberal guilt" in order to neutralize the oppositon .. to get ultra conservatives in high places .. people who would never have a chance if they were white males because they would be viewed as reactionary by moderates.

Democrats need to stop giving people like Powell, Rice etc a pass. The first major battle was the successful filibuster of Estrada.
