History says Bush is going down in November
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1803&ncid=1803&e=1&u=/washpost/20040514/pl_washpost/a25367_2004may13

Bad Signs For Bush In History, Numbers

Six months before the November election, President Bush (news - web sites) has slipped into a politically fragile position that has put his reelection at risk, with the public clearly disaffected by his handling of the two biggest issues facing the country: Iraq (news - web sites) and the economy.

Bush continues to run a close race against Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) in national polls, and his reelection committee has spent prodigiously to put Kerry on the defensive in the opening phase of the campaign, with some success. But other indicators -- presidential approval being the most significant -- suggest Bush is weaker now than at any point in his presidency.

Bush's approval rating in the Gallup poll fell to 46 percent this week -- the lowest in his presidency by that organization's measures. Fifty-one percent said they disapprove -- the first time in his presidency that a bare majority registered disapproval of the way Bush is doing his job. A Pew Research Center survey released Wednesday pegged Bush's approval at 44 percent, with 48 percent disapproving.

In contrast, Bill Clinton (news - web sites) and Ronald Reagan (news - web sites), who were reelected easily, had approval ratings in the mid-50s at this point in their reelection campaigns and remained at or above those levels into November. But Bush's father, George H.W. Bush, and Jimmy Carter had fallen to about 40 percent in their approval ratings at this point in their races and, after continuing to fall even further, lost their reelection bids.

1. Unfortunately for us, the Bush Gang has defied history
since they stole the election in the first place.

7. We will have a new president and a new definition of "The Sheep Scale"
...as in, on a scale of 1 to 10 sheep, how gullible are the American people...how many lies will they swallow, how low will their standard of living have to plummet, how many jobs will they have to lose, how much world-wide hatred will they endure before they say "I've effing had enough."

I hope that there is some historian somewhere, silently sitting in a room crunching numbers and bookmarking URLs, so that we will be able to pinpoint the exact moment in time that things went irreparably south for The Boy Prince.

8. History says he lost the first time
All bets are off. Look for more and more two faced tricks: more smearing of veterans while questioning others' patriotism; more FAUX et al cable news spinning the news; more orange terror alerts; more actual terror attacks; an October Surprise. If the election happens, look for more dirty tricks. They have started purging voters again in Florida. For John Kerry to win this, he is going to have to look so squeaky clean that Shrub's filth radiates forth by comparison.

9. BushCo is going to steal it again! Bush will be president, 4 more years!
And what are you or anyone else going to do about it?

We did absolutely nothing last time and we'll do absolutely nothing this time.

It'll be fascism in your face...they are already in power, who can kick them out and there's nothing you will do anyway.

What can you do? Scream to the republican owned corporate media?

What could you do?

BBV! BBV! BBV!

Republican President, Senate, Congress, Attorney General, Supreme Court and full control of the army.

What in the fuck could we do?

10. Projecting from history is all nice and fine ...
but I'll feel safe only when Kerry is sworn into office.

That history doesn't account for BBV, a corporate media that has become part and parcel of the Republican Party (more so than at any time in the past), and a regime that has already stolen one election ane will do ANYTHING to stay in power, including allowing a terrorist attack to kill 3,000 of its citizens and starting a war on false pretenses.

All bets are off.
