Stay Clam, Remain Focused - This Election IS Kerry's to Lose
Ultimately, for undecided voters, a Presidential election is a referendum on the performance of the incumbent. Honestly, there is NOTHING that can happen that will cause Pat Robertson to vote for Kerry; similarly I will vote for John Kerry PERIOD.

The undecided will decide this election, and they are feeling UNEASY about the leadership of Bush. It is visceral and cannot be addressed by logical argument - and this uneasiness will INCREASE.

Bush has been triangulated into no-win situations. For example: if oil prices rise, it is because of Islamic animus caused by Bush - if oil prices fall, it is because the Saudi's want to support their puppet Bush.

I cannot imagine a scenario that would be helpful to Bush.

I am very optimistic.

1. All politics is local
as Tip O'Neal said. Folks who are going to decide this election are going to do it on how it effects them. High gas prices, loved ones in the Guard overseas for extended periods of time, an economy in the tank---Bush is toast.

2. I agree....
I would add to the "all politics is local" school of thought that when one of the kids you watched grow up in your small town comes home in a box, it turns that community off to the site of clowns like bush and cheney attempting to wrap themselves in a flag. If anyone should be arrested for desecrating the stars and stripes, it should be those dick drippings.

4. I'm still hoping for a coup at the convention
I don't think Kerry has what it takes. Why did we get rid of Howard Dean so fast? Kerry doesn't hold a candle to Dean and is about as inspiring as a cup of milk.

6. While Dean was inspirational....
...very few people supported him in the primaries. He wasn't even in the second tier of candidates. Kerry was way at the top. I liked General Wesley Clark. He got beat the exact same way .... because far fewer people supported him in the primaries. The nice thing is that people like Dean and Clark can play significant roles in a Kerry administration. That's probably one of the things that has the other side really upset, so much so that they would try to create divisions in the democratic party.

8. That's true
But I think it was a case of perception creating reality. Dean had much more natural leadership, and in my opinion is smarter and certainly more decisive. But Kerry was probably seen as being the "winnable" candidate.

5. Clams are overrated
:P

The only scenario that would be helpful to Bush right now is if we got completely out of Iraq and brought everybody home... pronto. But that would alienate his warmongering base.
