Doctor claims video of Berg beheading 'fake'
For what it's worth here's another report claiming that there are problems with the beheading video:

<>.<>.<>.<>.<>.<>.<>.<>.<>.<>.<>.<>.<>.<>
<> LA VOZ DE AZTLAN NEWS BULLETIN <>
<>.<>.<> Los Angeles, Alta California <>.<>.<>

May 12, 2004

<snip>
The first casualty of war is the truth and this one has been no exception. La Voz de Aztlan obtained a copy of the video showing the beheading of American Nick Berg of Philadelphia and immediately something very odd was readily apparent. Not only were the purported screams of Nick Berg not in synchrony with the decapitation but their was also a total lack of blood spurting out as his jugular and other veins and arteries were being cut.

<snip>
Doctor Raul Castro Guevara is saying that there is no way that the individual in the video was alive and his heart pumping while his neck was being cut. The doctor adds that in these cases, while the heart is pumping, cutting a person's artery in the neck, would cause copious amounts of blood to spurt all over the immediate environment. He says that in his opinion the video is a fraud.

<snip>
If you are able to view the video, please pay close attention to the five so called Al queda terrorists making the political statement. Look at their height, weight, skin color and their mannerisms. Do you think these people are Arabs or Iraqis?

2. This is the third thread about this story.
The second one was started only about an hour ago. The first one has about 200 posts in it.

And while we're on the subject, Aztlan is a right wing hate site that includes, among other fine reading material, "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

3. Protocols of the Elders of Zion?
Good God, that was refuted decades ago.

4. That's only the beginning of the weirdness of that site.
Look around and you can find things like articles advocating the persecution of Jews on the grounds that they killed Jesus and corrupt cultures, a listing of all the expulsions of Jews in western history, a melodramatic account of how "Jewish terrorists" have targeted the publisher, and the like.

Apparently the site is some kind of Mexican nationalist outfit that also admires Hitler. Really bizarre combination.

And yet that site is being used as a source all over DU today.

6. Of course...
People are more than happy to use whatever "evidence" the can find that supports their "theory" even if it comes from a bunch of fascist swine.

7. Yeah, back during the primaries, there wasn't a GOP talking point
that didn't show up here four or five times, cited by fans of one candidate against another candidate.

Really reactionary sources, too, like Front Page Magazine, Drudge, The National Review, etc., cited by Democrats on a Democratic site in order to tear down a fellow Democrat.

5. don't know the site
but will take your word re it's contents.

This has been posted elsewhere however and whatever happened to Berg and whoever was responsible for it - one thing is abundantly clear to anyone with any anotomical/medical training is that when a living person is beheaded the arteries being severed GUSH blood - at the very least there would be blood all over the "terrorists" this doesn't mean terrorists DIDN'T kill him or even didn't behead him - just that it was done when he was already dead

8. I wonder what this no-name is a doctor of
kookyology maybe.

Rense, while it often has interesting links is also a pretty disturbing fringe website.

9. My wifes a doctor and
she said the same thing. I haven't really been to hip on the theories but that one did strick me as odd. She saw the photos and said, "there is no way that person was alive when his head was cut off." She went on to tell me how much blood the head held and stuff but I was eatin' and I told her to stop cuz well.....

10. I've been kind of curious...
why we haven't heard much more from the medical types. (of course, I haven't gotten to those other threads yet, and haven't looked too hard in other places)

Granted, the answer could lie in the missing parts of the tape, but not only is there a massive amount of gushing blood from the carotid artery when the throat is cut, it's just not that easy to cut a head off with a bowie knife. The bone and cartilage are really tough.

In the executions of olden days, the big axe the executioners used often didn't do the job, and several whacks were necessary. This problem was why the Guillotine was invented.

Modern Saudi executions involve several serious whacks at the neck with a huge sword, and that still doesn't really do the job. It kills the victim very well, but doesn't actually sever the head.

One more incredibly bizarre thing coming out of this war. I have decided to believe absolutely nothing I hear or see about it.

gross she said to cut a head off you really have to wack at it if you don't have the right tools. She had to do it in medical school for dissection of the neck. We've not really got into all the theories y but we also wouldn't put people down because of their theories. One of the ways to find things out is to question everything really. All I can really say on her part is she looked at it and immediately questioned it.
