The Abu Ghraib Panic

By Charles Krauthammer
Friday, May 14, 2004; Page A25

"Democrats calling for Donald Rumsfeld's resignation invoke the principle of ministerial responsibility: a Cabinet secretary must take ultimate responsibility for what happens on his watch. Interesting idea. Where was it in 1993 when the attorney general of the United States ordered the attack on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, which ended in the deaths of 76 people?"

Well, you blithering idiot first off The FBI and ATF was serving a subpoena upon some whacked out nut jobs when they were fired upon. In case your records don't show it some were killed. Now in your infinite dumb-ass wisdom what would you have them do?

"Janet Reno went to Capitol Hill and said, "It was my decision, and I take responsibility."

Well your right there, you moronic nutsack, see thats the difference between the Clinton admin and you so-called leader bush*, they take responsibility. You don't see rummy or bush* taking responsibility. Only the administration with integrity does that and this ain't that administration.

"For partisans it is a convenient way to get at the president."

No, what is partisan is your no-talent ass and your lying POS newspaper

"The prize is a decent, representative, democratizing Iraq that abandons the pan-Arab fantasies and cruelties of Saddam Hussein's regime."

Well, if you call 'democratizing' the murder, bombing, raping, torture, and humiliation of thousands of human beings then in your republican/conservative morally corrupted eyes your right. Don't include me in your vision for the middle east. I don't hold with this Crusade mindset, nor do I believe in your 'democracy'.

On edit: I know we're not supposed to make threats but if anyone knows this writer in DC let me know, I wanna talk to him.

2. He is a known columnists for many publications
including Time magazine. Perhaps not an RW, but definitely far right. He writes well, but I have long stopped writing his essays.

Krauthhammer is always writing shite like this. Nothing new. And there is an email address out there somewhere for him because I emailed him once. He is allegedly a psychiatrist who seems to know which Democrats are mental. Must be some kind of gift.

Edited to add this link. Somerby writes rather often of Krauthammer and his lying ways.

7. what really set me off was
the fact he conviently left out the part where a bunch of conservative, gun-toting wack-jobs opened fire on the ATF. If the Branch Davidians were doing nothing illegal then just open the f%$king door. I very seldom fire upon anyone knocking at my door except Jehova's Witnesses.

13. defending the waco incident..
..is not a good idea. regardless of your political ideaology - saying the atf was in the right really isn't cool. there are too many conflicting reports as to who actually fired first - and the use of force against the unarmed people in the compound was way too excessive. janet reno had her head up her ass and gave up all authority of the situation which was her big mistake. and she took as much responsibility as rumsfield is taking right now with the prison situation so i'm not too fond of her.

don't get me wrong - i can't stand rumsfield and bush, but defending janet reno and some of the stupid law enforcement mistakes the federal government made during the clinton admin is almost as bad.

14. Ummm your missing one point

Unarmed???? how did those agents die? suicide???

WHEN THE ATF KNOCKS ANSWER THE DOOR! If your not breaking the law then you got no problem right? These people were violating the law, plain and simple and we know who shot first because we had 3 dead agents as soon as they rang the door. When those people fired upon those agents then I saw plow um under or they shoulda bought legal guns in a legal way. Janet Reno didn't kill those kids and neither did any agents. Those kids were killed by fucked-up parents following a fucked-up kook. Anyway, thats my 2 cents.

PS. I lost a very good friend to religious extremists. He lives in a compound somewhere now. If they break the law wipe their ass up.
