Fad inventors should be boiled alive in hot oil
I came to the states in 1975 and since then have seen the following fads
10 speed bicyles
tennis (not necessary to play - merely show up for brunch dressed in whites)
Cabbage patch dolls (now there was lunacy)
Pet rocks
Hollywood diet, beverly hills diet (zillions of the things)
low calories
low fat
low cholesterol
and now low carb
"eclectic" restaurants whatever that means (usually means tiny overpriced portions on enormous plates)
the transformation of garbage collectors into sanitation engineers (is that implying garbage collectors are subhuman?) waiters into servers etc...
No one is crippled or has any defects now - they are all challenged (hiding behind words to avoid reality)
We are not short but vertically challenged or, if this applies, horizonatally challenged
Oh please someone - lets go back to being normal

1. I think investors in general should be boiled in bacon grease
There are a few professions I have no use for. That's one. Don't get me started on what I want to do to marketers.

2. I disagree
Some of the things on your list are not "fads," like expressions and terms for conditions, which have been attacked as "politically correct."

Perhaps some diets are not always healthful.

Otherwise, things like dolls and rocks do no damage. They are merely interesting anomalies; harmless byproducts of a capitalistic system.

I'm not too concerned.

They brought me much joy.

Except, WTF is a bongo board?

I've been buying a Duncan Yo-Yo every other year for 38 years. Heh.

and they look pretty fancy. My dad made mine and we had a blast with it.

Jonny Carson screwed up his back on one of these things years ago.

11. 10 speed bicycles were a fad?
Huh....come to think of it, I only used two or three of those settings and never knew what the hell to do with the other 7.

Wait a minute...are you going to tell me that pet rocks were a fad too?

The myths of my childhood are crumbling around me.....

14. Are you saying that there are no Barbie Dolls?
Are you saying that they are figments of our imaginations?

I have seen and touched Barbie Dolls. I wasn't dreaming. They do exist. They are real.

Are you further saying that all fads are not "real?"

Did people buy pet rocks and walk out of stores with empty bags?
