England says she was told by superiors to pose with leash, etc

(edited to add excerpt)

(CBS/AP) Army Pfc. Lynndie England, seen worldwide in photographs that show her smiling and pointing at naked Iraqi prisoners, said she was ordered to pose for the photos, and felt "kind of weird" in doing so.

In an exclusive interview with Brian Maass of Denver CBS station KCNC-TV, England also confirmed that abuses worse than those depicted in the photos were carried out at the U.S.-run Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad, but she declined to discuss them.

England, 21, repeatedly insisted that her actions were dictated by "persons in my higher chain of command."

In the photos, England is seen smiling, cigarette in her mouth, as she leans forward and points at the genitals of a naked, hooded Iraqis. Another photo taken at Abu Ghraib shows her holding a leash that encircles the neck of a naked Iraqi man lying on his side.

"I was instructed by persons in higher rank to stand there and hold this leash and look at the camera," ...

2. She is the best excuse...
for not allowing women in the military. And also for not having children.

Actually, I have been in favor of women in most military jobs, but who in the world trained this bumpkin? You do not have to follow orders that you think are against the rules. But she thought is was just "wierd?"

The two most famous women from this Iraq fiasco both come from poor West Virginia families. One is a hero and the other will be sent to jail. Do I see another TV show in the making?

I wonder which of the many soldiers is the father of her expected child?

4. Freedom for Lynndie!
Edited on Thu May-13-04 09:11 PM by Dirk39
International law? - I call my lawyer!
George W. Bush, 2003

''This will be a monumental struggle of good vs. evil,'' George W. Bush

I don't really want to defend Lynndie in any way, but Bush and his cabal are the theory, and she did only practise it - even considering that we still don't know, if she was forced to do, what she was doing or not. One thing for sure: Bush and the entire "patriotic" propaganda forced her to do so.

International law? - I call my lawyer!
means nothing else, but Americans are allowed to do whatever they want to do, they don't have to accept rules. Playing by the international rules would just be a sign of weakness, or even worse: would make you look like one of those communist unpatriotic liberals. And Lynndie did.
Lynndie did exactly, what Bush is praying.

And on the other hand: if Bush talks about liberating Iraq or that the Iraqis were liberated and just celebrate their freedom with the exception of some "foreign terrorists", he's just lying, but the American soldiers in Iraq are simply confronted with a reality far from Bush's lies.

And now, the same fashist idiots, who openly claimed they don't care about international laws, who don't accept international laws for Americans are shocked and terrified that American soldiers did hurt the Geneva Convention?

What Lynndie has done, happens everywhere in the world, where people have uncontrolled power over other people.

Just one example: we have a huge scandal in Germany right now: in an official prison, the guards did mistreat and torture prisoners wearing masks. And it didn't just happen once. And this is an ordinary prison, and this is not a war.

People were hired by private security corporations for Iraq with adverts claiming, the interrogations with prisoners would happen under minimal supervision - which means nothing but: torture is welcome.
And now, Powell, Cheney and Bush are outraged by what Lynndie and other heroes in uniform did? I puke.

As long as Bush and his comrades do not face a trial, I don't see any reason, Americans most famous porn actress should.

Just some thoughts,
Hello from Germany,
Dirk
