it must suck for Gephardt. he holds a "meetup" and has to cancel it
because no one is interested whereas Wesley Clark is getting tons of people meeting together, gathering money, etc. and forming websites to get him nominated. FUnny.

3. sorry. I was just amazed when I saw the piece about Clark and had to laugh
I'm not trying to slam Gephardt personally--more like slamming the attitude of the DLC centrist who think they should fall in line and hope for the best.

I also heard a funny one that I DON'T KNOW for sure is true, but on TV they said Lieberman had hired a new press secretary or publicist whose last name is....get this--GOBUSH.

6. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't checked it myself
but apparently this Matt Gobush guy has been active for some time in the highest levels of the Democratic party.

If I were him, I would see if I could legally change my last name

4. After Geppies Rose Garden Party with W...
I wrote him a snailmail letter letting him know that I would rather he
never asked me for any more support. Had worked hard for him
and Jean Carnahan in 2002... anyways- got a letter from the 2004
campaine office and sent it back ripped to shreds. Called them
that day to ask them to remove my name from thier mailing list.

It must have worked 'cuz I never got notice about this "meet-up".

Poor Dick. He did much good work before he sold out to the military
industrial complex.

When, where, why and how many?

7. he was never a serious candidate anyway
The leader of a party that lost 40+ House seats and lost control of that body for the first time in decades.

Yeah, that really qualifies him in my eyes.

Toss him onto the pile with the other losers...

Lieberman
Edwards
Kucinich
Sharpton
Graham
Braun
Gephardt

8. there was early buzz on Edwards...curious about his name in list
because he has some drawing power for a lot of reasons. Connection to legal folks could get him some serious cash later on...I know he's stumbled on some interviews but so has current popular choice Dean.

This is kind of fun. I like having several viable candidates that the GOP has to focus energy on instead of one guy. THey can play off of each other as long as possible before people stop dropping out.

12. hmm
THey can play off of each other as long as possible before people stop dropping out.

Or, they can suck the oxygen from one another and force voters to spend even more money for their primary advertising campaigns which could be better served going to one or two candidates.

We all know this is going to come down to Dean or Kerry. They will be the two left standing. I have absolutely no doubt.

Edwards will finish fourth or fifth in New Hampsire and third or fourth in Iowa.

He MIGHT, finish second in North Carolina.

14. He's running #1 in Iowa
and he raised over $5 million last quarter.

Can you please not call all those dem candidates losers? You're insulting people here who support them and are working for them.

16. Kucinich is NOT a LOSER...
That was a seriously STUPID comment, pal.

Some of us around here are working for the candidates/campaigns you've just callously denigrated. Who the f*** died and made you "Final Arbiter" of the Democratic Nominee for 2004?

None of those people are 'losers', except maybe Holy Joe, the co-loser of the (rigged) 2000 'election' ('selection' is more accurate). Might I suggest you rephrase your 'thoughts'?

9. Gephardt has thousands of union members "meeting up"
for him. The internet folks are just playing catch up. Unions and other groups have been organizing for candidates for decades.

10. well, it is true that the Unions are a strong base for the traditional
candidates. I agree. But Unions lost a lot of their power when campaign finance reform made it through. Not saying they aren't still a force, but who is AFSME endorsing? Anyone yet? UAW? Teamsters?

11. I've heard of a few candidates that have done that...
not just Gephardt (and HE doesn't cancel it, Meetup does if less than 5 people confirm). Unless you mean one he was personally scheduled to attend, this is no big deal.

15. People said that about Dean
the day of his "disastrous" Meet the Press interview, people here and in the mainstream press were very flatly and confidently declaring him dead.

That didn't last very long.

19. Gephardt is getting bad advice from someone
He has all the chrisma of a plastic bottle of white glue.
He may be a wholly nice man and a good congressman for his district,
but he is just not presidential material.

He raised $5 million last quarter, 2nd to Dean I think.

Plus, my dad loves him. He's been a long time fan. I never saw the appeal until recently. It was the same with Gore, by the end I think a lot of people really came to like him a lot.
