even for those who LIKE shrub, what's the appeal?
i mean, let's start with the givens: he's unintelligent, not at all handsome, a dork beyond words, and 100% bought and sold...

as well, he always comes across as grumpy, defensive and downright mean... so seriously (politics aside) what IS his appeal to the dumb american folks who like him? i honestly don't get it...

1. they've been instructed by their media masters

They are mindless sheeple who will do whatever they are told.

4. He's a republican
As Clinton said in a speech to a college I saw sometime ago on Cspan, there are certain percentages of the population who will always vote GOP and those who will always vote Dem. The ones in the middle are the votes each party tries to win.

9. like likes like?
well, isn't there the common wisdom that we like people who are like ourselves?

so applying your selected adjectives might it not be that there are a whole lot of people out there like the shrub who look at him and see a mirror image of themselves and say "a-a-ah!"

personally, i find the whole merry band in the white house a thoroughly revolting lot. i mean, there could be one of them who is at least good to look at but their ugly personalities seem to be manifest through and through physically. ugh! :puke:

laura bush probably did what queen victoria advised her daughters before they were launched into marriage: i.e.lie there and think of america/england.

11. I think a sizeable number of his adherents
just like the thought of killing people that are different from them. They're like sports fans; they're not actually the ones out on the field running the risks, but yet they say, "We won" or "We really kicked some ass". And * makes it possible for them to indulge their bloodlust under the acceptable guise of patriotism.

Note: No disrespect to actual sports fans was intended.

12. People buy into that ass kicker/tax cutter BS
People love that get tough/Kick their ass mentality--well as long as THEY don't have to do the ass kickin...

Oh,then there's all those HUGE tax cuts for the working class. I'd bet 99% couldn't tell you how much of a break their getting if any. Talked to a guy today who's getting a whopping $3.00 per week more. But...he's a golfing fanatic and green fees are going up because of less state money, less city money so therefore increases in courses owned by the city. All because of Chimpboys spending and tax cuts for the wealthy.

13. Bush tells them exactly what they want to hear.
He tells them he's for education and their happy, (two days later he cuts 3.2 billion from the student loan program)

He tells them we kicked ass and the war is over, (they feel satisfied and don't have to get off their ass, question what's really going on, as the war continues.)

Just like Reagan, who was the master of lies and saying anything the people want to hear "We can cut taxes, increase military spending and balance the budget.) Just keep saying it and making promises the people want. Even if though it's all lies, they know they'll never be exposed, by whom? The media?

And the dittoheads and religious right sheep are fed this shit night and day, by the huge Republican corporate media machine and they smile and don't have to read...and are told old George will take take of you, and they are happy and content..

Exactly what they want to hear.

15. His fighter jock "basket"
which was my favorite euphemism during the great rw swoon over his manly physique during the carrier hijacking photo op.
I still can't believe that anyone who wasn't making fun of him (like SNL did) mentioned that. I simply cannot.
