Gen. Kimmit on Hardball...spin,spin,spin...
The SPIN: Just a few bad apples that don't represent what the rest of the Army is doing. This was not a SANCTIONED policy for extracting information. These few that did this acted on their own. If they received an unlawful order, it was their duty to disobey it.

THE RUB: The TORTURE conducted at Abu Ghraib was widespread and systematic. It involved more than one particular unit and occurred at more prisons than just the Abu Ghraib facility.

...if they were given an unlawful order, I'd like to know who it was that gave the unlawful order and who did THEY report to?

...IMHO they knew about the torture all the way at the top of the chain of command. The Iraqi Governing Council Human Rights Minister was barred from visiting Abu Ghraib Prison by Paul Bremer a long time ago. Obviously Bremer knew what was going on their. And if Bremer knew then Rumsfeld, Myers, Cheney, Bush knew also.

1. Kimmit's ass is on the line...
What did you expect? "Yeah, I ordered the torture. Rummy gave me a call and I put MI in charge of the prison" :eyes:

2. exactly....
every one of those commanders in the chain of command - from the top on down - have their ass on the line for this and they are all going to play "simon says" when it comes to covering up what happened as a case of just a few bad apples and not reveal a system of sanctioned torture.

3. And wasn't this going on in more than one prison?
If it was going on in more than one place, I'd say it was common knowledge. Or that it was allowed, you know?

7. Thanks, that's what I thought.
I seem to remember that the first Red Cross report referred to the conditions at Guantanemo.

5. I have to say, a lot of the wind is out of his sail.
I did see the interview and his obnoxious quotient is at a real low.
