Am I the Only One Who's Already Seen The 'new' Images?

so, i'll confess it was late at night, and i'd been ahem, experimenting, but the image has stayed in my head as a feminist and abuse survivor. i've seen two photos, one of a man raping a woman (forgive me for the detail) 'doggy-style' and another in which the same man and another force the woman to perform oral sex. the men were in dark green uniforms, and IIRC the folks discussing the images weren't sure if it was the US or UK troops.

this was last week, and of course i've forgotten the site, i think it was one of the usual places- atrios, billmon, DU or smirking chimp.

of course, i've not seen them since and can't find them now. but in light of all the "more to come" chatter, i'm wondering if the stuff isn't already out there.

1. I saw them.

About a week ago, when the first images were just coming out. Somebody posted a link on the yahoo message board.

They were very disturbing, and I closed the page, didn't save the link or anything. I don't know if I wish I had, I don't need to see them again, like you, I have them burned in my brain.

It wasn't any blog I have seen before -- the page had little else on it but the photos. But they were exactly as you describe.

3. I saw these on-line too

They were linked from a thread here last week. Can't remember the name of the site that hosted them. I saw those exact images (but the rape one looked like sodomy to me, sorry to quibble over graphic details).

Yes, I think they're already out there. Don't know about the video, but more photos are definitely floating around than the ones the press has released.

4. Those were fakes

Some were obviously photoshopped, others I believe I heard were staged porn pics.

:( We saw them last week and they have been debunked.. But if they are being shown in Arab countries, they will be believed :(

there was a thread here at DU about them. I didn't save the link.

They did look like porn made to take advantage of recent events. It was all just a little too neat and well-photographed.

The problem is, whether they are real or not, they will become part of the torture firestorm. We are guilty by association. x(

i'm glad i wasn't experimenting too much. so the verdict is that they are most likely fake, and if that's true i'd add that i'm sure some intel type put them out there to confuse the real issue of torture at AbG.

9. Supposedly they're spreading throughout the Muslim world

like wildfire (the fakes as well as the real one). Don't guess we can expect rose petals anytime soon.
