60 Minutes topics tonight: Anyone else see an overall theme?
Story #1
Women in a Connecticut prison learn to write from a published author, assemble a book with the assistance of their teacher, earn five grand each in royalties, and are billed $125/day for their prison stay. One gets a tab over $400,000.

Story #2
After a series of car bombings in Saudi Arabia, five Brits, a Canadian and a Belgian find themselves arrested, systematically tortured into false confessions and eventually convicted of those bombings.

Story #3
In My Lai, Vietnam, the dead were women, old men and children. And even more of them would have died if chopper pilot Hugh Thompson had not confronted his fellow soldiers, stopped their murderous rampage and airlifted a number of civilians to safety. Hero? Nope. Not for over 35 years.

An interesting mix.

1. And then there was Al Franken and the Nixon bathroom.
Not quite sure what the theme was, though.

Did you feel offended that the Saudis tortured those guys? Then would not a rational person be similarly offended if Americans tortured those guys? Also, it showed that jsut because you are a soldier, you do not give up your mind or heart when you swear to uphold the Constitution...It was a straight jab at the prison guards in Abu Ghraib..
