I really wonder what Senior Bush is really thinking of Junior?
I have wondered about this and though they say they support his son, I cannot help but wonder if perhaps he thinking his son is going too far. Pappy never rolled into Baghdad during Desert Storm. He said it would inflame the Arab World which is why he didn't oust Saddam. Now his son has gone further than his dad ever could have hoped to accomplish. If I could just sneak into his mind....

1. This about sums it all up.
"To occupy Iraq would instantly shatter our coalition, turning the whole Arab world against us, and make a broken tyrant into a latter-day Arab hero ... assigning young soldiers to a fruitless hunt for a securely entrenched dictator and condemning them to fight in what would be an unwinnable urban guerrilla war."

--George H.W. Bush
(I think he said it around 1998)

The day W. was elected president, daddy said, "Now you go and get Saddam because I couldn't get him myself". And what did Junior do? He made his pappa proud.

4. Daddy's no different - he just didn't have a Congress & Supremes...
...to back his effort....

Timing was off for Daddy too...The Economy was so bad too that no one would have backed him spending so much money as needed...

He probably is just scolding Jr. for having let photos get out...

Dad's a reptilian too... :)

5. I doubt we'll ever know what Papa thinks.
You hear about Mama worrying that Jr. will lose the election, being upset about the people who deride her son, but I sure never hear any comments from Papa. It's hard to say if hee disapproves of GW's actions or if maybe they don't speak at all anymore. After all, GW did tell Woodward "He's not the father I go to for advice@". I think if I had a top job and after I retired my son got the same job, I'd be pretty upset if he said IN PUBLIC that he never consulted with me.

6. Could Dad Be Envious?
I've known of father/son rivalries...where the the son has to outdo the parent to feel they've accomplished...and then the parent, wanting to maintain that aura of superiority over their child will interfere to keep them from suceeding too much.

From the tenor of the post, I get the suspicion you think that Daddy is jealous of Junior and might just be hoping he doesn't win re-election...showing up dad once again. It was one thing to achieve dad's level, it's another rising above it. I just sense that Poppy is such a callous bastard, he'd even regret his own son doing "better" than he did, and inversely, Junior being the pigheaded dolt, out to show up the old man whenever he can. In college it was outrageous behavior, now it's playing with armies and killing more people.

You rarely see 41 & his son together...and now Bunnypants and Pickles won't attend their daughter's college graduation? What kind of family is this?

7. I once heard a rumor
that when he was younger, Junior challenged Senior to a fistfight. I'm dead serious about this, but my guess is that it happened when * was all coked up.
