All this BAD news this week totally silenced my dad!
Went to my folks' today for Mother's Day. For the first time in my adult life, my dad did not mention politics ONCE. Not once. No remarks about Kerry. No remarks about me being a Democrat. NOTHING! Guess he knew he would be on the losing end of a political debate today. I was shocked. We made it through the entire afternoon with no arguments or fights. We talked baseball. I was shocked! Usually he starts his spin before I get in the door good. Things must be REALLY bad for the Bush Brigade if my rightwing dad has been silenced!

1. Thank God!
Your poor mother had a peaceful day for once. Remember, she has to live with him all the time. :-)

2. Things started going bad in the 90's...
With Newt and his "Republican Revolution". But it quickly went from bad to worse with Shrub in the office. Once you are talking about politics again and I know he may still remain Republican, remind him that it is at best to have two parties in power so that there can be some checks and balances.

6. I'd bring it up anyway. He should be celebrating.
Plenty of war, murder, torture, weakening of labor and the middle class, underfunded education and hungry children. I thought that was what they wanted.
