Let's stop this "announced to the world" bullshit !
Edited on Sun May-09-04 11:52 AM by kentuck
I just heard Rep Duncan Hunter (CA) say it again. It was reported to General Sanchez and he reported it to the world. It was reported as alleged abuses in small print with no sense of urgency or even major concern about the charges. It left the impression that it was just another trivial charge in the middle of a war. They did not want the public to know the significance of the charges or they could have done so....

2. And it was NOT told directly to Congress then NOR in the briefing recently
by Rumsfeld.

Is Bushco suggesting Congress should have to monitor news channels 24x7 in order to get news? If so, they won't be informed. One of the best sections of questioning was that by Rep from Mississippi who said that he had to hear of things like lack of body armour from his constituents instead of, properly, by the Defense Dept to Congress.

3. the real question is - "what actions were taken to change things?"
The fact that Brig. Gen. Janis L. Karpinski was still in charge even after they learned about it in fall 2003 speaks volumes.

Only upon release of the photos did they release over half the prisoners. 60% were said to be innocent.
