CNN 11 pm tonight..Seeds of Terror....excellent.

Be sure to choose "The Story>>" under the pictures.

It was an outstanding show. I knew of the roots of terrorism in Southeast Asia, but this really opened my eyes.

It even goes into the finding of the Bojinga/Bojinka documents.

They most definitely emphasized how our attacking Iraq has hurt the fight against terrorism. Most of us here knew that, but to those watching who did not....it had to have been convincing.

2. Whats the deal with Southeast Asia.
I just tuned in, get the impression Al-Qaeda intentionally set up shop there.

Anyone think it might be b/c of Vietnam/Loas/Cambodia and/or the involvement with Suharto in Indonesia? Well, I mean, b/c of all that, Al-Qaeda might've wagered they could build a base?

4. Did you catch these paragraphs?
SNIP....."Since 1993, every single major al Qaeda plot around the world has been linked to Southeast Asia. CNN obtained a Philippines intelligence document which describes al Qaeda's moves as "part of a wider strategy of shifting the base for Osama bin Laden's terrorist operations from the subcontinent to Southeast Asia."

Those plots included a plan by an al Qaeda cell to blow up 11 U.S. airplanes in 48 hours. Philippine intelligence officials broke up the cell, which included Ramzi Yousef, convicted of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. But two other members of the cell, including the alleged mastermind of the September 11 attacks, escaped the police dragnet and one remains at large......"

I got chills watching this. And meanwhile...back in Iraq....our boys are dying. And so are Iraqi civilians.

5. OMG this was from 2002!
If this was presented then and nothing was done, how very sad.
http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/asiapcf/southeast/10/29/asia.jihad.1/

SNIP...from part 3..."Al Qaeda's men in the region -- say intelligence officials -- have also been actively infiltrating home grown groups, like the MILF in the Philippines, the KMM in Malaysia, Laskar Jundullah in Indonesia and Jemaah Islamiyah -- using their members for al Qaeda's plots.

But that's still only part of the picture. Intelligence reports gathered from across Southeast Asia say authorities are still searching for at least 14 other Al-Qaeda operatives.

These operatives, working with homegrown groups, have stockpiled at least 12 tons of explosives in the region, intelligence sources tell CNN:
•4 tons in Malaysia

•4.6 tons in the Philippines

•and at least 4 tons in Indonesia.

Under interrogation by the CIA Al-Faruq revealed that a Saudi sheikh, using a pseudonym allegedly linked to Osama Bin Laden, wired $74,000 to Abu Bakar Ba'asyir to purchase up to four tons of explosives in Indonesia....."
