Having watched Janeane Garafalo last night, is she not....
one of the most eloquent spokeswomen of the progressives? ! It was remarkable watching her and her intellect make Rep. Dreier look lke a complete IDIOT (not that that's really difficult to do). She's refreshingly aggressive, has all her facts, and SHE DOES NOT BACK DOWN from anyone.

As Bill Maher was moving on to talk about Kobe, she called him and the entire mainstream media on its obsession about Kobe. And she wouldn't let go. Like a pit bull, she just kept repeating that to spend time on talking about stories like Kobe and Laci completely sucks all the oxygen away from talking about the serious issues that are out there.

I should have known that she can be a very serious player in politics because she is routinely demonized and marginalized by those who prefer to be hand puppets rather than journalists. Heck I would certainly vote for her if she were to run for public office. (BTW, is there a group that is looking at/supporting this?)

She kinda freaked me out with her head of blonde hair...I wonder what that's all about. But she still looks like an incredibly sexy woman to me.

She is the complete package!! :toast:

I kind of liked the change, I think.

I loved when she got on Bill for talking about Kobe. But he had his nasty sarcasm all plotted out. He wasn't about to miss an oportunity to do his version of "the angry white guy rant".

She would be great as a talk show host, like what Bill Maher does, if she chooses not to go into politics. But I agree, she would make an excellent congresswoman.

8. She was the only sign of intelligent life on that show
maher did good having Davis, and a good rant on "no child left behind" - but when you put the Vietnam kid pic as the butt of a joke that cancels any pretence of humanity (he did say last time "treating kids as they were people ")
Brazile as usual aggravated any idiocy put on the table and Dreyer came with the usual instructions: OUTSHOUT ALL!

12. disagree on Donna
She's a very classy lady. She stays very calm. Makes her point, listens, isn't strident. Having her with Janeane was wonderful. I'm a fan of both. Poor Dreier. He wasn't as well informed as Janeane or as charming as Donna. He was the loudest.

53. Donna also managed Gore's campaign, and proved to me that she
was beyond her abilities (much like the Peter Principle) She was inept at forming a cogent campaign, kept his winning asset(the Clinton\Gore Success) at arms length along with Clinton.

She used an "I am not Bill Clinton" strategy which ultimately led to the grand theft of election 2000.

That she may be intelligent is a given, but as a political commentator she lacks the independence to deliver a real political position.

Janeane is much more up to date than Ms. Brazile, and Brazile proved no match for the rhetorical excesses committed by Dreir and Maher.

18. Nice to hear that
Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 10:06 PM by Wonder

I so rarely see that in a man. The female intellect I find stumps em a bit (of course I am speaking in general - but there is some truth to my observations over the years) many tend to go only for the visual... find a woman with opinions a bit too combative or confrontational... not that the woman actually is... but its the impression it seems some men get... and based on my own experience (having passionate opinions of my own) sadly it seems the female mind is not the elixir or the deal maker. In fact it seems a woman with actual though who is vocal about them many times it is her mind that can be the deal breaker... especially if she is direct with them and doesn't much go in for the baby talk (at least not in public anyway).

Be nice to encounter a male with this opinion you just voiced... the field is narrow... many of them are married at least it seems... or maybe they generate to a particular geographic region and I am just in the wrong town.

23. Up until last Thursday I wasn't married!
"Taken" since February of this year but not married.

There are plenty of men that respect a strong woman, matter of fact I'd hazard to guess that a slim Majority does, but the sad fact is that our "Culture" attacks intelligent, strong willed, women.

I have two younger sisters and believe me I hate the fact that they have to work so hard (more so than a beer swinning swine) for equality in academia and work.

and our pop culture has it worked out now that women are pretty much these days walking around so scantily dressed I keep wondering when they are going to disrobe entirely... of course if they do... it won't help much of anything because what seems to be a large portion of men haven't a clue what they want either...

anyway you don't want to get me started on this topic... from my experience and the complaints I hear repeatedly from the stronge minded single women I know, I am not sure how it is you feel that a slim majority appreciates and in fact generates toward outspoken strong minded women... I kind of stopped dating two years ago... what I have found observing some of the girls and women I know is that around their boyfriends they become all demur...

I laugh because I know most of em are bitches on wheels when crossed... and I think to myself why do women do this... my answer is because men won't bite unless they do...

well that is enough on that... I tend to love intelligent men with good senses of humor... and visceral understanding of the word compassion... I actually prefer those more intelligent than I... it can be a short cut to learning...

congrats on your relationship I hope it continues to forfill you as she pleases you and you she...

What else can I say? I sat here and listened to her say exactly what I think — that the media divert us from the important things by spending countless hours on Kobe Bryant (whom I had never even heard of, by the way, since I seem to be the only male in the U.S. who does not give a rat's ass about ANY sports). I could not believe that she was saying these things. And she's hot, too!

That twit Joe Scarborough (is he the one known as 'Banjo Boy'?) always makes fun of her on his show. But Janeane would annihilate him in a face-to-face.

Give 'em hell, Janeane!

There is now. I hate sports too. And the sport I hate most is this sort of sordid, anecdotal, personal, human interest, celebrity (or not) voyeurism. This crap doesn't affect my life - or any of our lives - in the least. It's simply pornographic. I refuse to consume such nonsense.

Janeane ... Gully you really look like her? You got the brown eyes, and the black hair, and the pale skin ? God, I love that yankee girl look.

I don't think it's unusual for liberal guys to like brainy chicks. I certainly go for 'em. Janeane, Hillary, Nancy Pelosi, Arianna - geez, what's not to love.

43. She's smart
she's well read, pretty, graceful and we got to interview her a few weeks ago in San Francisco where she gave a HILARIOUS and INSPIRED set during the War is OVER - Create Peace show sponsored by ArtistsUnited..

We have the show on our Take Back the Media Radio show if you'd care to look - and we've got some cute pics of her in person as well - love the new look, seemed she had a new tattoo tonight, very classy and dignified on the Maher show while Drier babbled like a guy doing a thorozine/starbucks goofball..

I told her that Take Back the Media would back her completely with animations and commercials and begged her to run for Gov of California (hell, she has an address here - I've sent her t-shirts there, All Bush ever had was a motel room in whatever state he needed) -- Even if she didn't win she'd be in a good position to hit it big in New York next election..

Run Janeane Run!

We love ya babe,

I like the blonde hair too, just for a Hollywood, change-for-the-hell-of-it kind of reason.

From a PR, presentation, overall credibility with the masses kind of thing, I wish she'd lose articles of clothing like the ripped tee shirt; she's not a 13 year old and it looked kind of stupid.

That said, she is a goddess; I just want to be in charge of her Image/Style team!
