If I want to know what they are talking about I will go to their website and

If this is in response to the locked thread, I thought it was pointed out there that freepers are in the 'support sharon's policies in israel 1000%' camp, and liberals that were in the 'let's at least *try* to be fair' group.

The Hitler reference is about Bush and how he uses the same propaganda
tactics Hitler used. Bush is just like Hitler, as far as how he uses propaganda.

sometimes its helpful to know what the morans are saying.

I suggest clearly labeling all such threads, so that those who don't want to open them can pass. Also, please label all links to Drudge and so forth so that we don't accidentally crash our computers visiting a site we don't want to visit.

Other than warnings and labeling, I say post away! I don't believe in self-censorship to the extent that we ignore what the other side is saying. Lately it has been fairly amusing to read their wild spins anyway....

I know my enemy by reading what people writing in reputable places say about them. I don't really want to patronize their sites.

Sure I could listen to or read their every word, but why would I want to waste precious hours of my life on that? After reading 4 or 5 book reviews about Ann Coulter's books, I knew they weren't worth buying, because the reviewers quoted her and made specific arguments about her books. I certainly don't want to put money in her pockets or read every last slimy word she's written.

It's good to know about "thine enemy," but I'm not going to help them get rich, spread hate, or call me a traitor.

Apparently there are bunch of freepers here already, despite our best efforts.

Well, if we democratically decide to adopt your solution, I'd stick around; but I don't agree with it. It's one thing to shut out conservatives (so we can discuss things without having to defend the existance of liberals), but to shut out liberals who post things we don't like to see; well I don't like it.

Of course there are a couple of options; one let people have the option to turn this system off. If I don't like it, I will see all the posts I want to. If someone else wants to sign up for it, they can get the posts edited out.

The other is the sensitivity of the system. Should a post be made invisible/deleted after 10 people make it invisible? 50 people? 100 people? 500 people? If one sets it too high only the most offensive posts will disappear. If one sets it too low, well than any group of people can shut down a post they don't like.

Anyway I don't know how practical these ideas are from a programming stance

which I don't think can actually be implemented but here goes. Access to the site without cookies. Then we can view and contribute to the site without the fear of having our computers attacked at least.

The other is that we have posters who come on and brag about being conservative and they still get to stay. That should change.

Other than that we ourselves should just not reply to those threads and let them sink.

I have to say that there are lots of people who are fascinated by certain figures on the right wing. I run a website ( http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com ) which deals with debunking right wing commentary, and whenever I do a post on Ann Coulter or Rush Limbaugh my hits spike; whenever I talk about Rush or Ann Coulter here more people go over and look at my site.

So while I understand the argument that we should focus on our issues rather than on what other people think about us; the fact is that a lot of people are interested in reading these kinds of stories.
