Kerry's new ads nearly perfect

Luntz, yeah that GOP hack tested Kerry's ads and they play well. So the doomsdayers should relax. Although, my opinion is that we are probably better off with a close race now because if Bush is down 10 or 20pts God knows what horror we'll experience from the GOP knowing that they WILL be out of power in 6 months.

Perhaps its time to stop complaining about Kerry's ads:


"Luntz just tested Kerry and Bush ads and found Kerry's about perfect... Swing voters especially like Kerry's ads."
Frank Luntz is not to be entirely trusted on this matter, since he has made a fortune selling Republican talking points to millions of unsuspecting voters. In fact, the notion of "Kerry's perfect ads" may even be a nice talking point for Republicans in June, as they could claim something along the lines of, "despite some of the best ads ever, Kerry still lags behind our invincible Dear Leader in the polls."
Watch the ads for yourself, see what you think and take the poll that follows. They are titled "Heart" and "Lifetime."

These ads are great and when you see Bush's ads - especially the ones about defense...they are ringing hollow now because of the war scandals...how is Bush going to run on the war on terror when we're now going to be seen as the abusers of Iraqis???? hmmm....should be interesting...

3. I like this "John Kerry voted with John McCain...."

There are a bunch of republicans who are going to vote against Bush on the war and the budget, and that is going to reinforce their hunch that John Kerry is a better choice. Even if they don't switch, they will likely stay home November 2.

4. I thought it was a terrific ad

Inspiring, polished and dignified. Esp. when compared to those nasty Bush ads. Way to go -- at last I'm starting to feel better about Kerry's campaign.

5. There's nothing else Luntz CAN say. He knows Bush's poll numbers will be

dropping, so he'll say Kerry's numbers are rising because of great ads, not because Bush is a major failure.

That's how Luntz operates. Attribute the poll numbers ONLY to great ads for Kerry.

Smart move if it makes those swing voters voters truly question Dim Son's "lifetime achievements".

I'm almost willing to bet Boo$h will "approve" an ad that shows him finding Jebus.

9. I was impressed with . .

. . the overall effect of the ad. I suspect there are production things going on that are very important. For example, Kerry's eyes. In this ad they glisten a bit which to me conveys sincerity - not intellectually but viscerally. He comes off as quite personable and human. In these 30 second TV spots, I believe viewers connect to those "behind the scenes" messages, as much or more than the words.

Way to go Kerry team. :toast:

10. You're right about one thing...

...once the Bushies are officially declared lame ducks, there's no telling what they might do.

If you want to scare the living shit out of people, muse about what might happen if Bush gets four more term limited years in office.

11. Reassuring, positive and competent is the way to go for Kerry-

We all need hope that things will get better in this country after the continual onslaught of bad news and nastiness spawned by baby Bush & Co. The latest Gallup poll on CNN shows only 36% satisfied with the direction things are going in this country- lowest ever for Bush. Voters need to feel that Kerry will be a strong competent leader. My only big worry is rigged voting results stealing the election again.

Kerry being labeled the underdog despite running even or slightly ahead of Bush in the polls is not bad if it softens Kerry's negative media coverage and makes pro-Nader voters less likely to throw away their vote this time.

I expect this thread to grow to 150 posts bitching about a stray hair or how Kerry blinks in one ad at precisely the wrong time so as to maximally offend square dancing librarians in Dubuque, so the election is irretrievably lost.
