Today, I read stories about groups of families living in tent cities. I have no words to describe how I feel about this. Remember, before Reagan, there were supposedly (and probably) only single males, drug-wasted vets and insane people living on the streets. Then came the single mothers with kids. It was a shock at the time, to me at least. Mothers and children living on the streets. Impossible in America! Now, there are multigenerational families living in tent cities. Can you believe this?
Education is so expensive these days that one will spend the rest of their lives working off the debt load taken on to pay for it.
When did cars begin costing what a house used to not so very long ago, and a house the price of a trip to the moon?
Why in the hell do half the people of the US support someone who is lying, cheating, and robbing the treasury every day of his pResidential term? And causing hundreds of young Americans to go to their deaths?
How much in taxes have you paid lately to make up for the wealthy people's federal tax cut? Bought gas at twice the price it was a few years ago? There are taxes on every fucking gallon. Go to the store? Taxes. Register your car? A tax. Buy, sell or throw away anything, and there is a tax on it. A revenue enhancement.
How about all those jobs that have been created lately! Wow! I'm astounded. Let's see, what's that you said? They're at Walmart or in India? Surely, you jest! Americans are a people proud of producing the world's autos, food, etc, etc. Now the US only produces corporations that buy cheap from slave labor and sell semi-cheap to domestic slave labor. Hey, at least people get to keep their overtime, for now!!!! That's if, of course, they even have a full time job.
Medical care is becoming more and more unreachable for many, if not already for a majority. "Body attachments" create debtors prisons. Fathers thrown out of a job who can no longer pay child support and insurance - thrown into debtors prison.
Think I'll have another drink. After all, the taxes on this one bottle probably paid for a CEO's business lunch today.
Is there anything left that hasn't been demolished, or at least that is deep into the process of becoming demolished?
