US troops said to mistreat elderly Iraqi
LONDON - U.S. soldiers who detained an elderly Iraqi woman last year placed a harness on her, made her crawl on all fours and rode her like a donkey, Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites)'s personal human rights envoy to Iraq (news - web sites) said Wednesday.

The envoy, legislator Ann Clwyd, said she had investigated the claims of the woman in her 70s and believed they were true.

Clwyd said the Iraqi woman was arrested in Iraq in July and accused of having links to a former member of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)'s regime — a charge she denied.

The abuse occurred last year in Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison and at another coalition detention center, Clwyd said.

"She was held for about six weeks without charge," the envoy told Wednesday's Evening Standard newspaper. "During that time she was insulted and told she was a donkey. A harness was put on her, and an American rode on her back."

BTW - I found this link browsing antiwar.com....it goes to Yahoo, but I cannot find the story on Yahoo, so it must've been pulled. (?)

2. It's linked right now from the Drudgereport
Yeah yeah I know odious Drudge etc but the article about mistreatment of the elderly woman is there currently and it appears to be gaining coverage.

What kind of a fucking Country am I living in where our military people are treating a 70 year old woman like this?

You know, in Vietnam the soldiers were supposedly being spiked with LSD to see if it made them more brutal and better able to kill.
I have read that really happened (although maybe all the facts aren't in on that one, I have no idea)

I have to wonder...are these guys over in Iraq being given meth or angel dust or something like it under the guise of "keeping them awake"? I recall reading that "uppers" were being given to pilots a couple of years ago, so I have to wonder what the hell is going on over there?

Maybe I just don't want to believe that we have people in this country that are so vile and devoid of any kind of a moral compass.

Even if the old woman was tied to Saddam...SO WHAT DID THAT PROVE???
She was harnessed and ridden like an animal?

The whole damned bunch of Saudis that bush flew out of here after 911 were mostly related to "terra" organizations, or the bin laden family and I didn't see anyone doing any of this disgusting shit to them!
To the contrary...they rated first class passage out on our dime via the bush reich!

I am disgusted!

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY?!?!?!
