...or you're one of the Republicans' presstitutes in the so-called "liberal media."

See, Trudeau's description of his youthful relationship with Howard Dean was very obviously partially tongue-in-cheek: "After attending Yale together, the two lost track of one another until Dean became governor of Vermont and told a reporter that he'd developed his sense of humor hanging out with Trudeau. Trudeau wrote him to protest, because during his teenage years, GBT didn't actually have a sense of humor."

Now, we shouldn't be surprised if, a few months from now, this statement is used as evidence that Dean is a pathological liar. I can just see Timmy the GE Whore grilling Dean with a question like, "But Mr. Dean, Gary Trudeau has denied that he had a sense of humor during his teenage years, yet you claimed you got your sense of humor hanging out with him at that time. Who's lying, you or Gary Trudeau?"

After all, remember that the Republican Smear Machine and the SCLM took a similar tongue-in-cheek joke by Al Gore--the union lullaby joke--and interpreted it literally in order to smear him as a liar.
