Did anyone watch Fox's "24" last night and notice the Political Poster
in the office of the Canidate running against David Palmer? The guy's going to Blackmail Palmer into resigning so he's kind of a scum..

Anyway his name is Senator John Keeler and everytime they showed a scene with him in it it would have a background shot of his Campaign poster. AND the poster was partially obscured to only show John Ke,,,,,,

The poster looked just like Kerry's poster with the Flag and everything... Call me a Tinfoil Hat but that's what I saw and I think it's on purpose. :tinfoilhat::tinfoilhat:

2. I don't follow that show, however I would have no problem believing it
Nothing Orwellian surprises me anymore in Imperial Amerika.

NOTHING.

3. I caught it...
As did a Dem friend. Also note that the guy "lost" the AFL-CIO endorsement.

And since it's Fox, I don't think it qualifies for the :tinfoilhat: label. It's just blatant pandering.

5. I noticed it too.
I wonder how long ago it was filmed. That show has become so idiotic. Seeing that poster--whether it was intended or not--cured me of needing to tune into any future episodes. That and the ridiculous, woman-in-jeopardy, Snidely Whiplash plot that they keep replaying season after season.

6. Remind me which network airs 24?!?@?
Edited on Wed May-05-04 01:13 PM by fryguy
oh right, Faux....guess they're just showing that they are fair and balanced once again...

(on edit) to be fair, a bunch of other networks, such as NBC in Law and Order, has done their share of smirk bashing, granted without using his name or something similar....

7. I don't think there is anything to it...

The Keeler character was introduced during the first episode of the season (aired last fall and probably written well before) as a slimeball trying to blackmail the President before their debate. The current President on "24" is a Democrat. The AFL-CIO endorsement was strange because I assumed this was post-primaries and his opponent was a Repub, but I guess it could still be primary season. My impression has always been that the "24" producers are left leaning. Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are a couple of the producers. Based on their timeline, I think the show takes place in 2008 and President David Palmer was elected in 2004. i should add that the Dem President is a generally highminded and sympathetic character surrounded by ruthless connivers always trying to bring him down.

8. crazy stuff....
Trumad:

I said the same damn thing to my wife as we were watching it - trying to tie in the posters to Kerry (look a lot like his) and then they kept up with the "John Ke" stuff. Some more "infotainment" from the Propaganda machines at Faux.

10. It is not infotainment
It is very sophisticated military/industrial funded propaganda. "24" is one of the worst offenders, but it is going on across the board, every network. - torture good , terrarists and militia bad, govt good, govt knows best, Feds good, govt here to save you, give up your rights ,guns bad , give up your guns, everyones a criminal, everyones corrupt, follow orders, submit submit, bioweapons coming.....sound familiar?, no ....then you haven't been watching :nuke:

9. I noticed too
but it doesn't connect, since Keeler is a Repub (Palmer is a Dem). Wouldn't put it past Faux to stretch things though...

11. Stretching a little...
I think you're stretching a little to find a conspiracy here... I think most of the filming was done for this several months ago. Certainly the canidate on the show (John Keeler) was known to the people watching the show back when Howard Dean was running away with the nomination, in November. John Kerry's campaingn was barely a blip for the next month. As for the campaign poster itself, it's pretty generic. Go back and look at other movies and shows involving canidates, and you'll see posters that look just like this with other people's pictures and names on it.

16. I noticed that also
.
.
.

I get that on my cable (Cogeco - WUHF - ch40). That channel gets some of Fox's shows, - it is what they call a "partnered" channel, sort of weird.

Anyways

The similarity in the signage is just TOO close for me to believe it is "just a coincidence"

Especially, as you noted, in almost all the shots, the full name was almost always obsucured, showing just the John Ke....

And the coloring of the placard, and the format.

It's no accident,

but I AM curious of it's purpose

I suppose senator John Ke... will progressively turn out to be the bad guy

and doesn't that one woman remind one of Condi?

Things that make me go

hmmm :freak:
