It's GREAT that we can communicate thru the Internet!
Edited on Wed May-05-04 01:50 AM by glarius
Isn't it INCREDIBLE that we humans can now talk to each other in this manner? This means that sooner or later the TRUTH will come out, no matter how hard governments try to hide it!
This is what gives me hope that you Americans will elect Kerry, even though the mainstream media is pushing Bush.

1. The corporations will figure out a way to get it under control at some
point. The more threatening it becomes, the faster that will happen.

5. Don't be a "Downer Debbie."
I think an optimistic, hopeful, happy thread is long overdue. :D I sure needed it!

7. They can't...
The boys at BBN designed it to withstand nuclear attack, be decentralized, and have no single nucleus. Thanks to the Open Source community and open standards, the level of totalitarian control required to "crack down" on teh Internet would be immediately noticed by everyone.

If the government just pulled the plug, I'll bet an open source alternative would be up and running within days.

3. Yes, however it's not so great
when your internet transmissions can be monitored without a search warrant or you ever knowing about it.

4. It really is!
We can also email our congress, email the media, and pass ideas and criticisms around. It truly is the information highway.

8. The Internet will be the downfall of bu$h.
And, yes, the corporations will try to control it by controlling access to it and then by filtering the content. That will fail, though, as witnessed by AOL's shining example.
