I attended the Veterans for peace event (William pitt delivered)
Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 02:15 AM by BEFOREATHOUGHT
as well as Congressman Jim McDermott.

I came in right after William started his speech the electricity in the intimate room was enough to make up for California’s almost forgotten black outs. The banquette hall was filled to its capacity others and myself had to wait for additional chairs to be seated to the side of the stage. William combined emotion and reason to reinforce the lies and myth of war, and information packed words about our current corrupt junta. William got numerous ovations including two standing and literally had half the crowd with fists in the air. Dame I felt alive the idea of Winston Smith was no longer for we are not alone!

Williams’s speech was followed by a Q & A. When asked about Powell William asked if he could swear. A vet yelled out “fuck yeah,”Laughs, and William did the whole I’m not reading this bullshit bit about Powell’s first look at the so- called evidence to be presented to the U.N. William got many laughs he was very funny.

Next up was Congressman Jim McDermott who took us on a tour of Presidential history and the ones who made it. (he touched upon the Republic versus empire and blowback) He talked about the warning of the Military industrial complex and politics of fear and how that fear has put a holt to critical thinking. He drove home the lies (he used the word miss leading) of Bush and the huge propaganda pr that is behind it. He spoke in depth of the distractions the Bush junta tries to attract us to while that over there is going on. He received much like William many ovations.

Followed by a Q & A where a Vet started to throw fierce words” What can you do to light a fire under the ass of the Democrats?” Followed by the biggest ovation of the night!Answer give them a copy of this video. McDermott told the following story of 911. On 911 we were having a meeting I sit on the budget commission and we got word of a plane hitting a building on 911 then a second and we started to hear the police say run for your lives. When kids go through crisis you say Daddy what do we do? 280 million people said that to the president post 911 including the Dems. The Dems are now starting to wake up we stopped the introduction of the patriot act 2 into congress he proclaimed.

Sorry guys I don’t have the gift other Duers have for reporting and written language and there is more that I could include but I’m tired as hell right now. I regret not asking a question but I was in Awe I saw John Ketwig of “and a hard rainfall”,and proud Veternans for peace some of which were missing Limbs. still mad at myself I did not stay to shake his hand. I met William and congratulated him on a great speech.

"Veterans for Peace" it was an honor to be with you on this night!

1. Black box warriors the electronic machines were discussed
in the Q & A of the congressman by One person and as well as William Pitt brought up his interview with three computer scientists regarding the flaws. The congressman man seemed aware and animated in his concern about the paper less voting machines.

Don't worry about your writing skills, as they aren't as bad as you think. This is a breath of fresh air. Well done IMO.

3. Thankful for Will
He's used his book tour summer to do so much more than just sell his book.

And how great for you to attend that event. I have two veterans for peace in the family, and I'm sure there are many more around the country. Your report is much appreciated!

When I read the speech Will gave , I just knew it would
get them going . It stirred me when I read it .

I'm so glad Patriot Act 2 got smacked down FAST .
Thank You Bill Moyers for bringing this to our
attention so we could call and write our policy
makers .

9. Thanks for the report
I saw William speak at a church in Wilmington a couple of weeks ago. The room was overflowing its capacity, must have been 300 people for a speeech for which they expected to get 50 people. The crowd was fired up (and this was a peace group). I think the Bush Junta has a nasty surprise in store, there are many many angry and fed up people out there. Assuming our votes get counted. Good to hear about the lawsuits being filed against Diebold!
