Florida Lawmaker Worried Over Castro's Growing Power (terrorism)
http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2004/5/2/231727.shtml

I have to shower after i read news max.
Cuba is doing more for the third world than america, so this is bullshit. Here is the kick, cuba doesn't benefit unlike us. The fact that there doctors and medicine are dispatched all over, is amazing. no wonder Castro is so paranoid, it would take an hour to overrun cuba.
---------Snip----------

WASHINGTON -- State-sponsored terrorism is coming closer and closer to America’s doorstep, and Castro's growing power thoughout Latin America has many in Congress and the Bush administration worried.
Last month, NewsMax's special series, "Latin America in Crisis", reported that Castro and his allies now control the destiny of more than 223 million Latinos.

“This is an ominous and dangerous development,” Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., said of Castro's re-emergence as a regional influence after reading NewsMax's series.

In an interview with NewsMax, the lawmaker agreed that a Cuba-led coalition in Latin America is collaborating with rogue states and terrorist organizations throughout the world

1. Goes along with what I posted the other day - CUba talking points
Cuba's next my friend. In case you missed my prediction thread -

1) Panel released study to Bushco about regime change in Cuba
2) Mexico and Peru pulled their Cuban ambassadors
3) CNN did story on Iraq, Cuba, and Zimbabwe being most dangerous spots for journalists.
4) Now conservative rag News Max reports how dangerous Cuba is becoming.

Cuba is next theater to be opened. It's close to home (don't have to worry about allied support for bases and air space); we have a base there; Large population of republican leaning Cubans in key battleground state of Florida.

3. You can bet
It will happen before the election. This is only another political move, designed to carry Florida.

4. If they go anywhere NEAR Cuba
I'll freak. I'll lose it. I'll go fight in the friggin cuban military myself. Ok, maybe not, I'll just hope Canada teams up with Cuba :eyes:

But I will go crazy-nuts. And do everything I can.

2. Kill me
Where are these facts coming from?
The Red Menace is such old hat... ho hum... right, Cuba's ignored the US since the 60's, but NOW, NOW Castro thinks he's going to what? Invade the US and create a communist Cuban territory?
*ahem*bullshit*ahem*
I really have to train myself not to read this junk... makes me fightin' mad.

6. It's bullshit.
The truth is they losing control of Latin America,
and it's driving them bonkers. (And, of course, there
is a need for someone to blame.)

5. Will Kerry have to go along with this to get the Cuban vote in Florida?
I am afraid that even Bob Graham was into this stuff. Nelson as well, I fear.

It worries me.

8. It's part of the political landscape in south Florida.
The folks who fled Castro want Cuba back. They've been waiting since 1959. However, here's a news flash. Every single one of those people is already as right-wing as they can get. They already voted for BushCo.

The Chimp is playing to his core audience again, and they aren't enough to win him the election. The majority of people who live in Florida are sick of hearing about this issue and they aren't about to support Chimpy just because he plays to the south Florida Cuban right-wing.

9. You know he will....
... Kerry is not much distinguishable with Bush on foreign policy - he thinks we should do the same things 'smarter'.

7. Stupidity....
Edited on Tue May-04-04 05:22 PM by higher class
it's coming soon...terrorism that will be blamed on Castro followed by our imperialistic takeover...those poor Cubans can't conceive of what is going to hit when the Cuban-Americans descend on them along with the drug and gambling cartels.

So it's still a question...will it be Syria or Cuba that will be the next country to experience our imperialism? I'm sure that our right wing leaders told the Cuban-Americans that we really don't have enough soldiers at the moment, but the Cuba-Americans said they would take care of it with the help of their CIA cronies.

Full of contempt.

12. the BEST two week holiday ever,
We just came back from a stay in Cuba, the people are so nice and friendly, you wouldn't beleive. all the people we talked to in bars and cafes, had no idea what all the fuss was about. We met lots of people cycling and rollerblading all over the island, from all parts of north america, free to come and go at will. It's hard to keep track of 60 or 80 rollerbladers at once. I think my point is, that they are not obsessing over the U.S. or it's need to dominate, just going about the day to day business of making a living and wish you'll would do the same. if you get the chance to travel there, go for it!

13. thats why the embargo must be lifted
so those people can prosper just imagine if they could trade with the us. But we wouldn't want a successful cuba, that would make people think here. They have done more with so little, than the usa ever did

14. "They have done more with so little"
But they have worked their butts off. They got their priorities in order and made the nescesary sacrifices during the hard times to ALWAYS put the children and their education and health FIRST.

Cuba's vital stats have borne this out over the years.
