Billionaire gives $10 million to help beat Bush
"Billionaire hedge fund investor and philanthropist George Soros this week pledged to donate $10 million to a political action group working to defeat President Bush in next year's election.

Soros, whose $11.5 billion Soros Fund Management is one of the world's biggest hedge funds, has long been critical of Bush administration policies and pledged his personal money to a new political action committee named America Coming Together, his spokesman said.

In a statement, Soros said "The fate of the world depends on the United States and President Bush is leading us in the wrong direction."

The group will use the money to educate and register voters in 17 key states."

Let's hope Hollywood pitches in and helps, too. Voter registration is a big priority - lots of people are opposed to Bush, but may stayed home in 2002. Moveon could use some money to put on more commercials against Bush. The Sierra Club and NARAL could use some money. The stars are rolling in dough - instead of the third yacht, how about helping out the good old USA?

5. Yeah, I think this is good, maybe he has faith
that moveon.org is doing what it can well and that the members are already active and he is trying to reach people who may not otherwise vote, instead of preaching to the converted.

4. It would amuse me
if he also donated his Bush-generated tax cut money to this effort. Anyone, particularly someone familiar with money, can see the deleterious effect of Bush's misapplication of supply-side economics. (Maybe that is what he did, and it's just unspoken. Or have people not even gotten those tax breaks, etc.?)

6. Pay attention:
He's concentrating his efforts in the big battleground states of 2004!

If turnout in strong Democrat territory is just 10% more than it is in GOP territory, Dubya is toast.

7. Does anyone know anything about the America Coming Together org?

Never heard of it and don't know who's behind it.

Maybe someone should educate Soros about the e-voting fraud. Maybe he could help.
