Shell Oil advertising on Air America???
Edited on Mon May-03-04 09:59 PM by JaySherman
Who just heard that Shell ad spot during the Majority Report? Am I the only one disturbed by this? Not good if the oil companies are trying to flex their ad muscles with AA.

:puke:

3. Hoping maybe it's just local station ad spots.
Still, not something I wanted to hear.

15. it was streaming audio
It had to be because I don't get any radio stations much here where I live and it had to be Air America I am pretty sure.

I do listen to Guy James but I don't think a military recruitment ad was on his show. He doesn't seem to run many advertisements.

Lets hope I was just "hearing things" .... ?

2. Hey, I'm just glad they're getting ads!
The bigger the company the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Let 'em spend some of their profits on a good message.

4. Thing is...
Big companies like Shell have a way of using the power of their advertising dollars to influence program content.

6. Somehow I just don't think Air America is going to bow to Shell
Oil's wishes.

5. Fine with me, gotta buy gasoline somewhere
Right? I don't know if you noticed or not, but radio stations operate based on their advertising sales.

8. I would love to advertise our business on Air America,
but it's a little bit spendy for us.

Does anybody have a website where we can find liberal-mided businesses (like us) to patronize?

I see so many pictures of people's dogs on these forums, and wish I could tell them about our web site..

9. What's wrong with Shell?
Right now, I mean?

I thought the only reason people picketed Shell in the first place was their long-ago connection to Apartheid in South Africa. That's no longer a problem.

Somebody enlighen me.

13. Is this any worse
than what some of the other oil companies do?

I'm not saying it's a good thing, but I don't think they're worse than Exxon for example.

10. Do you listen to NPR, watch PBS, a fan of the BBC?
They all take money from major corporations. As long as AAR maintains control of the message, I for one don't give a rats ass where they get the money to get the message out. Besides, I think some of these companies are starting to realise that there is a whole demographic of people that they are missing out on.

14. Wonder why the hybrid car makers don't advertise on Air America?
Seems like they would have a ready audience there.
