How to get freepers and repubs on our side regarding BBV:
Ask them this one simple question:

"How would you feel if Hillary Clinton was running for president against Bush and Susan McDougal, Al Franken, and Barbara Streisand were the ones appointed to count the votes?"

(Had to repost this from a dead thread,)

1. You're assuming that Republicans bother to think ahead.
They still wouldn't bite, because they know that the system currently favors them.

They only pursue change when they're directly threatened. So if the tables really do turn (in reality, and not just in a theoretical example), I guarantee that they'll question the system, but not before.

2. Remind them that a great many liberals are computer literate

And if the election machines are hackable, liberals can do it just as well as conservatives.

My biggest fear is that, no matter who wins the next election, the election results will be so tainted by flawed voting technology that 1/2 the voters will be SURE the election was stolen, and take matters into their own hands.

Secure, trustable, verifiable voting benefits all parties involved.

4. The ReThugs OWN the SOFTWARE on the Voting MachineZ
The secret, proprietary software that nobody ever gets to see...

...except that the dumb shits let their code leak out onto the Internet,
so now anybody with access to the voting machines can fix an election.

So can anybody who can write a virus that can infect the Windoze
operating systems that the voting machines and tabulators run on.
Windows machines all over the world have been getting clobbered by
a virus recently. What happens if one of these hits on Election Day?
Votes irretrievably wiped out, chaos at the polling places and thousands
denied a chance to cast their vote in the most critical election of a lifetime!

What happens if the virus, instead of trashing the hard drive,
alters the results? We might never know.

A system so insecure should scare even the Republicans.

3. The problem is
that our side wants fair voting methods and the Repukes can win only by foul.

5. Same thing with the USA PATRIOT Act.
