1. Thanks, Ksec
As the mother of a Marine, it continues to annoy me that people assume all military personnel support Bush. Many do not. I believe the military shouldn't be automatically considered to belong to the Republicans. Just as Christians shouldn't be assumed to belong to the Republicans. Both groups have potential for the Democrats. We need to quit allowing the Republicans to present themselves as the guardians of groups who would actually be much better served by Democrats. Thanks for the link.

7. Well said ....
By the same token: ... We hope that Soldiers KNOW that criticism and antiwar statements made by Democrats are NOT directed against the soldiers in ANY way, or that we as progressives DONT want a weak national defense ....

We blame the LEADERS for this debacle: .. the soldiers are doing their job, and doing it the best they can ....

We are PROUD of our soldiers .... we only despise their megalomaniacical leadership ....

ANY student of history knows: .. those who do not defend their borders WILL be attacked eventually: .. hence we as a people can NEVER have ZERO defense ..... that is a regrettable but consistent fact ... We MUST have a reasonable military in this crazy world to defend our own people ...

The GOP would paint the Democracts as 'weak' on national security issues, and they do regularly .... yet it is a lie: ... the Democratic pesidents have ALWAYS fought when necessary, and fought well ....

Its time the Democrats DEFINE their ideas of what "National Defense" means to us .. and STOP letting the GOP define a strawman of us ....

We ALL know this: ... Using 'sexed up' intelligence and lying to the citizenry to attack a piddly Oil satrap in the desert so GOP friends can steal their oil is NOT a strong defense .....

It is a WRONG Offense.....

We thank your son and his fellow soldiers for their service ....

This ISNT their fault ...

9. Agree, why let the thugs set the tone of things?
Just like the "liberal media" lie. The whole Democrats are imoral, not Christian, anti-military, etc. bit is an elaborate lie sprining from the corrupt evil brain of Rove and his ilk. And it's not enough that we defend ourselves - that puts us just where they want us. They set the tone, and we defend - no, I'm not going to do it. It's time WE went on the attack and let them squirm. And if they pin a label on us like "liberal" then say, "And your point is?"

I hope to holy hell the DLC doesn't get their way and let Lieberman lead us down the road of playing nice. Nice guys finish last in politics.

Let Rove and the corporate media pin "angry" labels on Dean and others who are fed up - don't deny it, say, yeah, I'm angry - you wanna make something of it?

5. In the months leading up to the 2004 elections, our returning veterans
will have tales to tell in their households and communities which will begin a groundswell of anti-war, anti-Rummy, anti-Bush sentiment.

8. Ah Just A Matter of Time
Everybody has there reasons for joining the military. Geogrie Boy and Daffy Dumsfeld sadly assumed it was all for the sake of patriotic fervor. I'm not surprised one bit that troops would wake up and smell the oil for what it is.
