A new bill to prevent the wrongful purging of large numbers of minority voters from voter rolls, as happened in Florida (among other states) in 2000, has been introduced by Rep. David Price (D, NC). Among the additional original sponsors is Rep. Rush Holt, sponsor of HR 2239, of which Rep. Price was an early co-sponsor. There is some possibility that the two bills will be handled together, possibly generating new momentum to get them out of committee.
To add to that momentum, please check whether your congressman is among the 23 sponsors of the bill. If not, please do everything you can to encourage her or him to co-sponsor the bill.
A pass the word, this is important.
