Cheney owns Thompson Sub-Machine Gun and 30+ Guns
This was in a Newsmax email - hey, I like to get intel from the enemy camp. This info doesn't surprise me - why didn't macho Dick go to Nam in the 60's where as General Clark likes to point out they'd have provided him with plenty of these types of weapons.

Cheney's collection, our sources say, is in the hundreds of guns, including pistols, shotguns and machine guns -- from antique Thompsons to the most modern European automatic machine guns.

To let off some steam (God knows he has some to let off these days), the Vice President has been known to go out to the federal training center in Maryland where the Secret Service does its own gun practice.

A typical Cheney visit, told to us by a person who attended one, included the Vice President bringing some 30 guns from his own collection.

On the ranger(I refuse to clean up their misspellings), Cheney would blow away his targets -- with Thompson machine guns, the latest German and Austrian machine guns, Lugars, MP5s, shot guns, you name it.

One after another an aide would hand the Vice President his latest armament, and Cheney would fire away, no doubt imagining al-Qaeda terrorists in his gun sights.

We're told Cheney is a good shot to boot.

Cheney is not shy about his shooting activities. Another Cheney friend tells us that at the Cheneys' Christmas party last year he showcased to guests a video of himself shooting while hunting.

6. I bet he does a Cagney impression when he fires the Thompson...
"MADE IT, MA! TOP OF THE WORLD!" (boom....)

Or maybe Edward G. Robinson:

"Yea, take that, see....Never take me alive, coppers!"

Yup. I think Edward G. Robinson is more his style.

7. He's playing classic Warren Zevon and making his own video...

of Richard, I mean Roland, the Headless Thomspon Gunner

Roland was a warrior from the Land of the Midnight Sun
With a Thompson gun for hire, fighting to be done
The deal was made in Denmark on a dark and stormy day
So he set out for Biafra to join the bloody fray

Through sixty-six and seven they fought the Congo war
Fingers on their triggers, knee-deep in gore
For days and nights they battled the Bantu to their knees
They killed to earn their living and to help out the Congolese

Roland the Thompson gunner...

His comrades fought beside him - Van Owen and the rest
But of all the Thompson gunners Roland was the best
So the CIA decided they wanted Roland dead
That son-of-a-bitch Van Owen blew off Roland's head

Roland the headless Thompson gunner
Time, time, time For another peaceful war
Norway's bravest son But time stands still for Roland
'Til he evens up the score
They can still see his headless body stalking through the night
In the muzzle flash of Roland's Thompson gun
In the muzzle flash of Roland's Thompson gun

Roland searched the continent for the man who'd done him in
He found him in Mombassa in a barroom drinking gin
Roland aimed his Thompson gun - he didn't say a word
But he blew Van Owen's body from there to Johannesburg

Roland the headless Thompson gunner...

The eternal Thompson gunner, still wandering through the night
Now it's ten years later but he still keeps up the fight
In Ireland, in Lebanon, in Palestine and Berkeley
Patty Hearst heard the burst of Roland's Thompson gun
And bought it

Difficult to machine, nice lines. It takes a true craftsman to make one of them. I'd love one for myself.

4. Typical chickenhawk
...needs to be bristling with guns, some of them illegal, to feel like a man. Most veterans, while they may hunt and have an appropriate weapon for that activity, are not in love with guns and don't collect an arsenal. In fact, most vets I know who have been to war don't have guns at all.

Cheney is a coward, and like most cowards, is fearful enought to cover it up with macho swagger and demonstrations of false force.

With rank come privileges. He probably has a servant to clean them all. I rarely take more than three of mine, and get some variety by sharing among other shooters.

14. Hey, I'd like to borrow that Thompson
Despite their age and caliber, Thompsons have been known to display a cyclic rate of fire that rivals MAC-10s.

I'd want to borrow it for completely non-violent reasons, of course, in that I don't intend to hurt anyone - but it would be nice to have that Enron sign or the proposed anti-gay-marriage amendment to use as target practice.

20. You know what - I'm sick of DU'ers always ranting
Edited on Mon May-03-04 10:35 AM by rmpalmer
about someone posting something from Newsmax or Drudge. If you don't want to see it - ignore the thread. I don't know why some of you just have to post every time someone posts a thread from those sources.

It gets tiresome to see the whining every time a Drudge or Newsmax thread is posted.

What are we - the next Sinclair?

I don't like censorship in any form. I'm adult enough to decide what is true and untrue.

Flame away!

22. The best part about the article...
"Cheney no doubt was imagining Al-Qaeda targets as he blasts away."

Hahahahahaha. I can just see lil' Dick Cheney, standing there, like a true American, blasting away at his imaginery Al-Qaida advisary.

Clark is right, it's a shame Cheney didn't head to 'Nam where the military would've been more than willing to supply his fetish for arms.

23. What I REALLY want to know here is....
Does Cheney have a $200 "Machine gun Tax Stamp" for EACH one of those full-auto toys of his?

Or is he exempt, because he's rich and runs the country?

I don't give a rat's ass if he has a quad-fifty mount in his "collection", as long as all the paperwork's in order.

since he knows what he has done, he may fear mobs of Americans showing up with torches and pitchforks. Like in the Frankenstien movie, the village folk stormed the castle chanting "give us the monster".

28. Okay I don't care what your views are on gun control or how big of a
shithead, gutless chickenhawk is (a pretty big one), but Tommy Guns are cool! The old Chicago Typewriter. Cool looking gun with a rapid fire rate, destructive .45 caliber ACP bullets, high capacity drum magazine. Carried by 20s and 30s gangsters who wore fedoras, spats and pinstripe suits. Okay, I'm gonna have to rent a James Cagney movie tonight.

P.S. Fuck Cheney. He's a chicken. The only reason he shows these guns off is to look like a macho man. Otherwise he would keep his recreational shooting prowess to himself. But he does own some cool guns. Of course, I'm sure Cheney owns lots of things I never will.
