1. I never thought we'd be repeating this!
I'm sooo sorry, amen1234. I know those words are paltry. I very much appreciate you posting this.

I lived through that time, protested, studied all the background, protested again and again. I really thought that we had learned something. It's such a shock to me that we're repeating so much of this national agony.

When I visited the Wall in DC, as I went down that ramp, my breath caught, and I thought to myself... "Here's my generation." Now we have another generation, being dragged through the same wringer.

Thank you for the reminder.

"It's a waste" doesn't even begin to cover it, does it?

Kanary, hoping *this* generation learns what mine obviously did not.

4. thanks. nobody really cares much..the USA didn't cared much when my cousin
was KILLED, and it seems from this board, there still is little interest....like OUR soldiers being KILLED everyday in Iraq...it's just background noise to a society wallowing in their own crap and caring little...which is exactly why the Vietnam war was easily escalated and dragged on for 14 years....Iraq is in the second year, Afganistan the third year....and really, nobody cares...bush* wars are destroying our economy, but making bush* war-profiteers filthy rich with our taxes and our young soldiers' lives....

everyone cheering and fighting in Iraq might reflect on that, for Iraq is simply Vietnam regurgitated....

anyways, I thought someone should say something to honor a young man's life....my cousin was only 19 years old...'sucked into the intake' and DIED for a lie....May 3rd....

5. It doesn't go away, does it?
That sense of betrayal... that eye-opening experience of finding out just what your country REALLY is.

It hits the gut, and stays there.

It's these things that set some of us individuals apart, and forever separates us from the rest of the population, making us feel that isolation, hurt, and sense of hopelessness.

I'm very glad you honored your cousin's life here. He was my age, and I wish I had known him.

Kanary
