There have been claims there is torture there - there is no torture there.

1. I guess we will have to hold our noses
and starting trolling those porn sites.

It seems that there is no reality in *'s world if there are no photo's.

2. All I know is that information is NOT coming out. That means
there probably IS torture there. Last week on PBS they had a documentary about a Canadian Afghan who lived in Osama's compound and then worked for the CIA. They planted him in the prison then they sent him to Bosnia (I think) from where he returned to Canada. He described some of the things he went through (to maintain cover he had to be treated just as a regular prisoner)...did not sound pleasant. He also said that 90% of the detainees are not terrorists.

4. HELL at Guantanamo Bay..it's all here

My Hell in Camp X-Ray Guantanamo Bay

Rosa Prince and Gary Jones
The Mirror (UK)
March 12, 2004

"Jamal al-Harith, 37, who arrived home three days ago after two years of confinement, is the first detainee to lift the lid on the US regime in Cuba's Camp X-Ray and Camp Delta.

The father-of-three, from Manchester, told how he was assaulted with fists, feet and batons after refusing a mystery injection.

He said detainees were shackled for up to 15 hours at a time in hand and leg cuffs with metal links which cut into the skin.

Their "cells" were wire cages with concrete floors and open to the elements - giving no privacy or protection from the rats, snakes and scorpions loose around the American base.

He claims punishment beatings were handed out by guards known as the Extreme Reaction Force. They waded into inmates in full riot-gear, raining blows on them.

Prisoners faced psychological torture and mind-games in attempts to make them confess to acts they had never committed. Even petty breaches of rules brought severe punishment.

Medical treatment was sparse and brutal and amputations of limbs were more drastic than required, claimed Jamal.

A diet of foul water and food up to 10 years out-of-date left inmates malnourished.

But Jamal's most shocking disclosure centred on the use of vice girls to torment the most religiously devout detainees.

Prisoners who had never seen an "unveiled" woman before would be forced to watch as the hookers touched their own naked bodies.

The men would return distraught. One said an American girl had smeared menstrual blood across his face in an act of humiliation."

7. That would tend to explain why they're not allowed to talk to judges...
much less attorneys. :puke:

17. Thanks for reposting that. I remember the disbelief here
from many that such humiliation of prisoners was possible. I wonder how many have recently changed their minds.

12. I sent both
articles, the one from the New Yorker and the one from the Mirror, UK about camp X-Ray to Sen. Nancy Pelosi. I think she is on the Armed Services Committee or a similar one.

6. I mentioned this yesterday
God only knows what's going on at Gitmo. :puke:

Since there is no information forthcoming. And those prisoners and guards aren't going anywhere for the forseeable future, I don't know how they can keep themselves from mischief.

Afterall, the prisoners are in legal limbo, according to chimpy, so our guys and gals can have their way with them. :puke:

To Hell with the Geneva Convention. :puke:

9. I'm still wondering what happened to the missing Gitmo soldier......
http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/americas/09/27/gitmo.missing.soldier/

Did he object to something he saw? Was he going to report something he saw?

10. I'm afraid...
... it is far worse than what we've heard of Iraq. Eventually, it will be told, but maybe not for fifty years or more. Sadly, by then Americans will ignore it because "it happened so long ago." Sadly, that's what we always do.

13. You have to
Edited on Sat May-01-04 09:08 PM by shraby
send those articles to your congressman. They get enough of them it might help. Send them to each member of congress you can think of. I don't know if they can be sent to the Supreme Court, but I'm going to look. They are ruling on Gitmo soon.
