BBV: More dominoes falling: TWO criminal actions now being considered
Edited on Sat May-01-04 02:23 PM by BevHarris
The California secretary of state endorsed the voting panels recommendation to pursue criminal charges against Diebold for fraud.

And, in South Carolina: The senate is now conducting a formal investigation on possible criminal charges for improper influence in the purchase of a new ES&S voting system. That will become one of the lead stories at BlackBoxVoting.org this week. Will provide more on that in a bit; if interested, someone here may want to Google it while I put out a few other fires. It has already made the news.

Watch the dominoes fall...

2. First of all Bev, thank you for all of your hard work, we all owe you.
I am planning on starting a letter writing campaign against e-voting do you have any suggestions about who we should write to.

We are planning to send letters to our own congressmen, but want to be as effective as possible.

4. Calling Paranoid Pat on this: And I recommend hitting Ohio hard
Ohio is in the throes of conflict, with the secretary of state telling counties that if they don't buy the machines, he'll order the machines on their behalf. Same thing happened in New Mexico. Target them too.

Paranoid Pat has the contact database.

Yoo hoo, PP.

11. Right here Bev! I was busy pulling all the threads from.....
.....late September of last year through mid November.

Red Eagle, check you inbox! :)

The list of BBV threads from that time period, (about 7 weeks) although not 100% complete, is an amazing look at how much a group of individuals who really didn't know each other were able to accomplish to bring this issue to the forefront. DUers should be proud! With your permission Bev, I'd like to post that list of BBV links that I put together. It might even convince Mike and the boys that we're not trying to rule the world, rather, we're trying to keep the wrong group of people from doing it.

It's a fascinating look at 'armchair activism' at it's very best. And we couldn't have done it without you.

I'll send you a copy of what I've got. Check your inbox in a couple of minutes.
Give me a list of the other important states you need right now and I'll post them ASAP.

I'm off to get Ohio and New Mexico posted down to the county contact level! TTFN. (:hi: Hi Mike! )

14. Thanks Pat!
Check your PM.

New Mexico, home to Denise Lamb, isn't it? A past member of NASED's Voting Systems Board.

Funny how a lot of those people show up in one way or another with problem states, like Brit Williams and Maryland's czar of voting, name escapes me now. She and Brit gave a NASED presentation on group buys.

Is New Mexico Diebowled too?

Two voting companies & two brothers will count 80 percent of U.S. election using both scanners & touchscreens

By Lynn Landes
Online Journal Contributing Writer

April 28, 2004—Voters can run, but they can't hide from these guys. Meet the Urosevich brothers, Bob and Todd. Their respective companies, Diebold and ES&S, will count (using both computerized ballot scanners and touchscreen machines) about 80 percent of all votes cast in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.

6. (SC) Electronic voting deal put on hold - Headline
registration required.

3 companies protest contract bid process

BY CLAY BARBOUR
Of The Post and Courier Staff
COLUMBIA--The state's chief procurement officer suspended a multimillion-dollar statewide voter machine contract Wednesday after three companies filed official protests, alleging problems with the bid.

snip

On Tuesday, Maximus, a Virginia-based company, and Diebold Election Systems of Ohio filed complaints against the commission. They alleged several violations in the selection of ES&S, most of them dealing with the commission's decision-making process.

Those protests come days after South Carolina-based Palmetto Unilect filed a complaint alleging four violations by the commission, including a potential conflict of interest between commission Director Marci Andino and ES&S.

snip

In 2002, ES&S and Unisys teamed up to bid for Georgia's statewide voting system. The companies later formed an alliance to provide statewide voter registration systems nationwide. Andino worked for Unisys during its partnership with ES&S in Georgia. Andino has denied a conflict because Unisys isn't involved in the South Carolina deal. She also denied influencing the selection committee.

7. Bev, we are proud of you
You have outdone yourself. Other then e-mails and calls wish there was more I could do. Florida needs help so bad. Wexler is fighting the good fight but seems to be doing it alone. We are called idiots and the more we vote the more we are put down. I DO NOT think Jeb won a 2nd term fair and square. The 2nd K. Harris has taken over and is convincing everyone that BBV is sooooo easy and sooooo correct. Is the calvery on the way? Everything here has gone to the pubs but they don't seem to be satisfied. They want MORE including a 2nd term for Big Brother.

8. Can't Help Myself- Re: HAVA
It's not the: Help America Vote Act

It's: Help Another Vendor Act

(Thanks to SO for that interpretation)

Why your states are spending money on machines that can't count your votes and that offer no way to prove accuracy. Spending your money on putting your votes in peril.

9. No, it really is the "Help America Vote Act"
These machines can be used to correct the votes of those unpatriotic and ignorant Americans who don't vote for the proper preselected candidates.
