Can the Bush/FOX/GOP model work world-wide?

They have managed to take over this, the greatest nation in history, by first taking over the media (completely), then, once that was in place, creating smear machines (Scaife), disenfranchising voters (Harris), terrorizing election officials (the fake riots), and finally stopping the election when it wasn't going the way they wanted it to.

Then they LIHOP, tried to kill Leahy & Daschle, outed a CIA agent to scare her husband, broke into the Dems' files, lied repeated to the Congress, the electorate, and the UN. 30,000 or so people have died in Iraq under false pretenses. Bush can barely utter a sentence without a teleprompter. And still he is even with JFK in the polls, and even if Kerry wins we'll be stuck with a corrupt and incompetent Congess. So it looks like they've won the battle here.

However, worldwide, Bush's popularity/approval is probably 10-15%. He is the most hated American in history. His few allies in the world are getting trounced at the polls. He can't appear anywhere outside the country without entire cities being cordoned off. They used to want to be the US, now they don't. So whatever poison has killed this country isn't yet afflicting the rest of the world.

My question to you: Can the algorithm the ultra-right used to take over here be extrapolated to the world?

2. No, it's already falling apart. This country is too big, sloppy, relaxed

and disorganized for any clique, no matter how ill-intentioned, to set up as a new Rome.

I put Bush in that group, although I think his brain power is at least half of these guys. Wasn't there a Roman Emperor whose mother actually ran the Roman Empire? That would be the one equal to Bush.

The amazing thing is that after having history of these guys forced down our throats for years, that when it happened in American, very few people saw it. And still don't see it! I always wondered how Hitler got as far as he did. He at least got an economy running and built a great army. He blamed it all on the Jews and tried to destroy them while almost everyone was shouting Heil HItler. The German economy was a total disaster at the time. People were starving. And they were blamed for a war they didn't start and got the bill for it.

What is America's excuse???

4. It is an interesting question

The ingredients that caused this easy takeover IMO were:

- The forceful under education of the populace.
- The consolidation of wealth.
- The successful takeover of government by Industry.
- The emergence of a powerful Christian machine.
- Taking over the media (yours)
- Corrupting the voting process (yours)
- Targeting death of opponents (yours)

6. Yeah, I am just wondering

in this age of global communication, instant news, and state-of-the-art weaponry, if they can continue this throughout the world. I guess I am mulling over the dichotomy between a) how quickly and easily they were able to affect the takeover here and b) how the rest of the world now sees Bush (and hence us) as either a laughing stock or a mortal enemy.

this is the reason you should never keep prisoners for more than 24 hrs...do what you need to do to extract necessary info,,,then do the 3 "s" dance..shoot, shovel, shutup.

reverse situation: just how close to the geneva convention would the ragheads adhere in dealing with our POW's??

our guys don't really need to torture them that much..just hang 'em up, bring a great big hawg in..extract a syringe of blood from it, cut the prisoner's genitals off and inject him with the syringe of pig's blood and then "send him to allah". the rest would be singing like canaries.

no!!! that's not cruel..it is expedient. after they tell you what they know or what they think you want to know..do them the same way...pretty soon someone is going to be telling the truth.

I don't go for the sex torture etc, it is not appropriate. However, psychological warfare is appropriate. For example, kill a pig in front of them and have a disguised (put a pull start diaper on his head or something) US Soldier walk through it. Then ask your questions; then release a handful back. Some will be killed by their own as traitors and the others will spread fear among their fellow creeps.

I do not see any physical torture here. They just humiliated them that someone in the media got pictures. The prisoners probably were glad they were still alive. During the Iranian/Iraq 8 year war, it was full of atrocities. I don't remember in that war Muslims caring about the daily atrocities one iota.
This matter is being overblown by the partisan press because they can.
