I think Kerr(e)y and Hamilton are Cowards!
So let me get this straight???

I would say that the 9/11 Commission is pretty damn important to this Country even though it's pretty much of a sham. I would say that meeting with the Pres and Vice-Pres was pretty damn important even though that too was a sham. I would say that they owe it to the 9/11 families to ask tough questions to the two top guys in the Country and at least give it your best college try!

So what do two of the Democrats on the 9/11 Commission do? They leave an hour early to errr attend previously scheduled meetings...:wtf:

I don't buy this for a minute! B. Kerrey's not in politics anymore so why in the hell does a supposed meeting with Senator Pete Domenici on Capitol Hill become more important than Commission business? Future Golf Game plans? Same goes for Hamilton...He met with the Canadian Prime Minister. Again I ask..:wtf:

Listen...if you leave 60 to 70 minutes early in protest of what was going on in the Oval office, THEN GOD DAMN SAY IT'S A PROTEST!!!

If you left because you really did have the meetings mentioned above...THEN YOU'RE GOD DAMN INCOMPETENT!

Cowards!

2. I think it was their subtle way of letting the public know...

that it was a sham. If they would have left with no excuse, it would have made them "partisan"...but the fact that they left with "good reason" implys that the testimony was a farce.

That's my take on it anyway.

7. I understand trumad...trust me, I feel ya on this..

Im a "shout it from the rooftops" guy myself, but I think they were worried that the focus of the story would shift from "President needs Dick Cheney to hold his hand" to "Two Democrats play partisan politics with the lives of Americans"...

6. sometimes, silence speaks louder than words.

"Kerrey explained to reporters: 'Yeah, it's a little awkward to leave early. But the president certainly understood what we were doing.'"

8. I hear that
If it was a protest, I wish they'd say so. If it wasn't, what were they thinking? "We can review the tape and read the transcript later?" We needed EVERY Democrat in that room.

9. I agree with you, Trumad. Kerrey pulls another punch...
...AS IF millions of Muricans across the country are getting the gist of his subtle, oh so delicately thought-out "protest."

Puh-lease.

Outside the beltway his little snit has hardly been noted.

What I want to know is why didn't ALL of the other commission members walk out? Now THAT would be a story?

10. You're not getting it
What could be more important than a meeting with the President of the United States? What?

Outside of surgery or a family emergency, what other scheduled appointment, coming into conflict with a meeting with the President and Vice-President of the United States, in the Oval Office no less, doesn't get cancelled?

And this is a major, historical event on top of that.

So I ask again, you have a meeting in the Oval Office about national security, and an appointment to get your tires rotated. Who gets cancelled? Will the tire guy get upset? Will he not understand? 'You said you wanted your tires rotated at 11:00! I don't want to hear any excuses!'

I think it was a statement that this farce of non-testimony just isn't critical to the 9/11 Commission; that any BushCo interview had been reduced by this sham of a 9/11 Coverup Commission to a formality. I think it appropriately diminished the stature of the meeting, using proper formality of course.

Or maybe they really did have important stuff to do.
