I got a big kick out of seeing Darrel Issa cry like a spoiled brat
Edited on Fri Aug-08-03 12:03 PM by Cronus
It was sweet. His bottom lip pouted as he thought of his millions of dollars paving the way for the Terminator. And I'm looking forward to seeing Arnold weep when he realizes he's lost all commercial appeal at the box office AND he's not governor.

Additionally, I think I'll have even more fun watching Arianna Huffington take over for Davis. Not because I don't like Davis, but because it will make Arianna's Republican ex-husband weep too - he's an ex-gubernatorial candidate as well as Issasaddsack.

Did I miss anyone?

(edited to remind people about Arianna's closeted ex-husband)

Saw it on TV - it was schweeeet. I loved every second of it. He actually experienced overwhlming emotion at his own loss, poor thing, and when he tried to speak through it, his lower lip trembed like a spoilt little brat having to give up his place at the "adults" table for a cousin wanna-be big-shot. Awwwwwwwwww. He looked cuddly enough that it wasn't hard to imagine seal hunters clubbing him to put him out of his pathetic misery.

13. Here's a story out of San Diego
Issa quits race but is confident of "brighter day"

Rep. Darrell Issa, choking up several times at a news conference,...announced he will not be a candidate in the Oct. 7 election, despite having been one of the first to say he would be a replacement candidate....

He was looking forward to returning to Congress, to his seat on the influential Commerce and Energy Committee...

Issa's news conference had been billed as his formal entry into the race...He said Schwarzenegger ensures a qualified Republican will be on the ballot.

Issa has some political experience, Arnold has none, but Arnold is better qualified? Welcome to GOP politics in the major leagues, Darrell. You lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.

7. Typical of how cowardly bully repukes act in public
Bob Thomas blubbered in public when he got caught trying to arrest Dems.

I bet Rove cries a lot - he looks the type.

Junior & Poppy both cried at the sham inauguration.

The best one I remember that made me sick was the press conference the chimp gave in the Oval Office right after 9/11 when tears started to well up in his eyes and his bottom lip started quivering, he said,

"I'm a compassionate guy."

12. Does the Governor in CA appoint the Lieutenant Governor?
Please. Ahnuld will have Issa as his second-in-command.

Calif will have a similar situation as the US. Maniac really in command, a "likable" guy being the "warm and fuzzy" front.

15. Bustamente is running himself :)
So he may become governor in his own right. Additionally, I doubt that would apply until next general election, but I made that up - what do I know, it's just a guess?

There's even one candidate running who says he will resign immediately after he wins so as to ensure that Bustamente gets to be governor in the event of Davis losing and this guy getting in. (that's in case Bustamente can't run or his candidacy is called into question)

It's going to be a fun roller coaster ride :)

22. In CA, gov. and lt. gov. are separate constitutional offices, not 1 ticket
It's not like pres. and VP; lt. gov. is not a "running mate."

14. I'll bet Issa has been offered a plum
somewhere for his financial sacrifice. Look for some sort of appointment down the line. He may possibly end up with a really good job with Halliburton or some other such BFEE company. It would be worth tracking what happens to him after this.

23. Wish I had thought of this Godfather joke at TPM...
snip
According to press reports, Issa had to fight back tears when making his announcement today. Now at first I figured Issa was tearing up because he'd spent such a big chunk of change on what's turning out to be someone else's party. But then I realized that wasn't it at all. He was just thinking how much more money he's going to have to spend to replace that sheet set and mattress and that fancy duvet because of the mess from that decapitated horse head he found in his bed this morning.

I mean, where do you think the call that got Issa outta this race came from? Yeah, me too ...

27. can you imagine, though,
... if this brought tears to Issa's eyes, what would have happened once Gray Davis started to work over the guy's reputation? i suspect the latimes story about discrepancies in Issa's background, was only the tip of the beginning. Issa might have gone postal or sumpin.
