Edited on Tue Apr-27-04 12:22 PM by jus_the_facts
.....if the country is again taken in a coup this fall....how about we start the revolt by first....NO MORE WORKIN'....second....NO MORE PAYIN' BILLS.....*if* there were a way to get everyone on the same page to really do something to make a change....I believe this would be one of the only ways to make DEMANDS on the corporate machine that has made the world into what it has become...WE'VE ALL GOT TO GO ON STRIKE!!!!!!!

1. Did you ever see the movie Amazing Grace and Chuck
beautiful story about a kids who starts a world wide movement - all the athletes refuse to participate in their sports - professional football players, gymnasts in Russia, children all over the world, until all nuclear weapons are disposed of.

Gregory Peck played the pres - great movie.

3. it depends
if the polls show we're pretty much split down the middle, yet there are landslide victories for repugs in e-voting districts, I think we really do need to consider civil disobedience if we can't force a re-vote. If we behave no differently than cows being lead to slaughter, we'll end up just like cattle.

4. I would take up arms and overthrow our govt.
Assuming that the repubs maintain control of both houses (which I know is not likely to happen), but anyway, now you know where I stand.

15. No violence! The first to resort to it, will lose.
As we find ourselves experiencing a reinvented form of fascism, we must challenge ourselves to combat it in a manner never seen before.

The essense of a "revolutionary" act is not in the act itself. It is rooted in the idea or thought driving it.

11. Yes. Do it.
I left the country right after the Bu$h selection. I am a strikin', and a boycottin' the US until Bu$h is gone.

No phone, no bank account, no power bill, no taxes, no American corporate products, no nada.

I will return to the US the day after Kerry is elected. If Squatting Chicken steals another election, I'm standing my ground.

Just say NO to dictatorship.

14. A general strike would be good.
You also need to form an underground economy based on barter to take care of your needs. Like if you are a lawyer, you do some work for the gardner and the pool guy in exchange for their services. No money changes hands. You need to get together with your like-minded friends, neighbors and business associates to do this.

I think there is a way to put up closed websites that can only be accessed by a password to coordinate these activities, but I leave that to the techies because I don't know much about it.

16. I'd support a strike in any way other that striking myself.
This has come up before. If I don't go to work, uninsured women get cut off from their breast cancer treatment, drug addicts don't get placed in recovery, homeless people don't get referred to services, people who have been fired or evicted for gender reassignment surgery don't get legal representation. I will go to work. But I'd be willing to do other things and provide support to those who are striking.

Yep, you're right. We need to stay positive, and try to make sure it doesn't come to that, but we do need to be prepared just in case. So glad to be in the fight with you.

If over half the population takes a stand but what are the chances of that happening? There would only be a small percentage and we'd just be rounded up and sent to some gulag.

Whether you like it or not!

That invisible hand of Adam Smith is gonna smack the corporate machine silly when the bottom rots out.

Be kind to your neighbors when it happens. Everyone deserves food to eat and a warm dry place to sleep -- even the corrupt and shortsighted morons who made it happen.

28. Spear of the Nation.
I was listening to NPR today and they had an audio special about Nelson Mandela's struggle in Africa. Their fight was waged by non-violence and it defined their struggle. Then one day he made a speech saying (sic) "maybe the non-violent ways of Gandhi will not work in this case". This touched off wild debate in his movement and the opposition branded them as "terrorists".

Because they were fighting for freedom from oppression they were labeled terrorists. Today Nelson Mandela is held in the highest regard around the world...but back then he was a terrorist.

Gandhi's non-violent method worked because the British could pack up and go home in shame. When your struggle is with someone who will not leave and who has taken your home...there is only one thing to do.

Fix bayonets.
