20 Million People May be Coming to Our Side---loved the report....
Heard this news item a couple days ago and lit up like a Xmas tree!! Let me tell you what I know about these people and what has happend to them by the 'pen' of GWB.

For the last couple years when places like C-Span WJ did spots on Medicare there would always be these certain amount of calls coming (understandably) in on the repuke line. They were retirees or soon to be retirees who had a company health plan until death do them part. They were ugly bastards of the "I've got mine, screw you" school. They wanted Medicare dismantled or gutted as they strutted around with their 'guaranteed' coverage from their employer. Then I heard a labor union leader speak a few months ago. He said that this was going to soon be pulled right out from under them no matter what kind of iron clad contract they had. Wellllll...along comes Mr. Compassionate.

News item was that he is signing a bill that allows and makes easy for corporations to now dump all these retirees on Medicare--and it is thought that most will!! The reasoning is that the poor corporations (anyone have a hankie) cannot afford to give healthcare to their younger workers if they don't dump us old bastards. Truthfully, I have no sympathy for these people because they wouldn't stand up with our retirees and fight for Medicare---now they are going to be dumped on the program and it's a real economic kick in the gut for them. Piece featured a 70 year old (very chic) woman who was livid and going to sue (anybody tell you, honey, that you are dog do-do to the corporations that own this country??). The piece ended by saying this will affect 20 million Americans and they expect it to have an impact in the elections. Indeed, now they are all afraid of what Mr. Compassionate is going to do to Medicare---bye, bye to cushy retirement. Now, one last thought about the impact:

I imagine a lot of this will hit in those midwestern battleground states because it is there where there was a lot of high paying manufacturing jobs where these types of benefits were brought into place via unions. It also has to really affect Florida where many are enjoying their lovely benefits as they sun themselves. Keep up the good work, George.

9. They are thinking the election will be rigged, again
And Bush is thinking, hey, I'll dump all the corporate retirees into Medicare and then bankrupt Medicare. Gotcha!

Fact: he's already taken a few giant steps to doing just that.

2. This and so many issues that Bush is on the wrong side of
portend a landslide of support coming for Democrats in the next election.

5. Yup... gotta hit those pocketbooks
It's never guilt over an unnecessary war, or the deaths and harm dealt by our military. It's not about defending our rights or saving the earth. It's my money, and my privileges damn it!

Oh well, I'll take their votes. Gladly.

6. I think I finally found an issue to sway my diehard
Republican parents. They support Repubs solely because of taxes. Nothing I've said or done has swayed them although they supported a few very liberal candidates because they were friends of mine in local elections. This one issue may sway them.

8. It's hitting at our house
When my husband retired he had great medical insurance for ten dollars a month. Last year the cost went to almost three hundred a month and the insurance is terrible. He is a diabetic and heart patient. In addition to the cost of insurance, our out of pocket cost so far this year have been over a thousand dollars; and he hasn't been sick!
